There is a metal rim that the mazdaspeed versions have and the CX-7 version does not. It helps direct air through the intercooler. The CX-7 has a little different ducting, so it doesn't need to have that rim. If you buy a MS3 or MS6 unit, you can unbolt the rim. I have one from an MS3 on mine...

Not a bad idea to do so. The ecu will need to re-learn fuel trims when you install any modification and resetting it will force it to start clean...

Probably the ecu readjusting fuel trims after the reset (assuming that you disconnected the battery to change the plugs... :p). After some driving, the AFR's should level off...
