Do not listen to this. There are plenty of good reasons to not drive in the snow with summer tires, but ice "shredding" your tires is not one of them.

A word of caution here. There is no way anybody should be clay barring every time they wax their cars. Even using soapy water or detailing spray, the clay is still an abrasive. If you clay every time you wax, you're going to run out of clear coat at some point. Conventional wisdom says clay...

If you don't want to put in the effort to do a private party sale, and are squeamish about $9k, you should really reconsider doing a swap. After engine, transmission, intercooler/piping, and ECU you'd probably be in the $9k zone for parts alone, and that's before the labor headache.

Why not sell/trade in your mazda3 and buy a speed3? You're almost guaranteed to save money and a huge headache.
