Could an injector be failing? You obviously have good spark and bad gas doesn't fully explain the problem...I'd look at injectors.

I can only say the MPG is better since I had the flash. It is certainly not worse and the software change makes all the difference in the world regarding driveability. Much better car with the update than without.

Here in Michigan the AWD has been a godsend. Now I have to add AWD to the list of things I can't do without in a vehicle. That list is getting pretty long!
