If you are hearing metal grinding noise, it might be the heat shield touching the bottom of the shifter. My KartBoy shifter did that and I had to put some washers between heat shield to stop the noise.

The "clips" are sometime called anti-squeak clips :) You should definately put it back on.

I've only driven rear wheel car (still has one) for past 8 years up until I got the protege5 last Autumn. I didn't get the anti-lock brake but p5 handles pretty good as long as you don't punch off the line in the snow/wet.

I don't understand why insuring Protege5 cost so much. I pay $800/year for the 2002 Protege5. I also Pay $900/year for 1999 Porsche 996. I've called Allstate and they told me if I had gotten 2002 Honda Accord it would've been only $400/year. You would think that Protege5 would be as same class...

You should see my house during weekends. It's like a auto shop already. Almost every weekend, atleast one of my friends comes by and we work on the cars. Last weekend we worked on brake for my neighboor, my headlights, transmission fluid change. Next weekend is waxing, two weeks later is...

So did I just made my headlight to CDM style?:D Just curious... Is the headlight from Canada gloss black or flat black?

I'll go out right now and take a picture of it from far:) I just got it done last night... so no problem so far:)

I used high heat resistance flat black paint(around $5). You can get them in any local auto stores. I was going to get the gloss but it's very hard to make it very smooth. Make sure you sand it lightly before you paint it. otherwise paint doesn't stick too well.

I would say 3. The hardest part was to heat up the headlight so that I can remove the clear parts of the headlight. I put the entire light fixture in the 250 oven for about 2 minutes, and gently remove the clear over.

Guess what I did over the weekend?:D It took me about 2 hours to remove everything and paint and reattach them.

Mine works great! Sometime it's too cold.

Mine has 50% front and 5% rear.

I pay around $1800 per year for '99 996 and '02 Protege 5. My P5 cost me $800 per year.:confused: When I had 3 series BMW, it only cost me $700 per year.

I got the car in Sep 2002 and I have 18700 Miles.
