re: Cracked Windshields on CX-5's and Poll

3rd party glass I was quoted $200 (canada) Other places wanted 650-700$ for "OEM" glass.

    New car, Air Conditioning smells

Mine did this a few times too - I've done what others do and turn off AC about a block away so that it warms up a bit and prevents condensation/other junk to form. Hope you get it cleaned out. good luck.

    Rear diff fluid change?

Anyone do it yet? Got a part number for the washers? Can't seem to figure out the size from the parts diagrams (and the ones online seem to be listed wrong).

    while installing my summer tires...

My replacement seems much the same. It feels a "bit" more rubbery compared to the old one, but that might just be because it hasn't dried out yet. We'll see how well it holds up.

re: Cracked Windshields on CX-5's and Poll

I got a "stress" crack I think from the bottom driver side going across. Going to leave it until it's really bad as our winters suck. It cracked when it was sitting in a temperature controlled parkade.

Front Strut Boots Torn - what to do?

My dealer has "never heard of this" despite all the CX-5's I've looked at in our area are in the same shape. I have an appointment next week for them to look at it (sending them pictures wasn't enough)... Might take awhile to get fixed. Oh well, they will probably break soon after if they are...

    while installing my summer tires...

Yeah most people with coil overs don't seem to run with them either, so it's not critical.. but it shouldn't fall apart this easy. It does give me a bit more piece of mind for gravel/dirt roads though.. they at least block some junk from hitting the rod. Checked another local CX-5, it had the...

Front Strut Boots Torn - what to do?

The bottom is supposed to be "disconnected" so if any moisture/dirt gets in there it can easily fall/drain out. I was curious about it too and checked out a few other days and they are all the same like this. I guess it also helps if the suspension needs to travel out a lot it doesn't pull the...

    while installing my summer tires...

I think he might mean if they just cut one in half and try to slide it over and zip-tie it? Any dealer who does that shouldn't be touching cars. Anyways - totally agree. Material is crap, not nearly thick or pliable enough. Some Russian guy talks on his blog about his getting replaced and you...

    while installing my summer tires...

Mine isn't totally beat up yet, but this is only 6 months / 16,000 km... sent a note to the dealer already to see what they want to do

    front supension dust boot broken

Were the replacements the same cheap plastic? how did they stand up this winter?

    CX-5 rattles

Mine are splitting apart too, both sides. This happened very early on in my cars life (I only have 16K now, started much earlier). Have not brought it up to dealer yet. The boot is made of the cheapest plastic I've ever seen. I bet it just froze once and split then and there.

Oil consumption, dirty exhaust and an answer from a Mazda mechanic

I've always changed them, just because you can normally get them for free anyways if you buy a bunch of filters at once. Anyways, most people probably serious crush them each time they do a change anyways. I use a torque wrench and the recommended values aren't high enough to crush it all to...

The biggest things missing from 2014.5 CX-5 GT AWD tranny are...

Uh, maybe because it can be in 5th and make it up the hill just fine? Mine drops to 4th when it really needs to, but with cruise on it can manage dropping to 5th and going up significant hills just fine?

Manual Shifting the Automatic 2.5 AWD

Yes - up until the switch is stays.... once you actually click in the switch is when it does take over - which is not too unexpected of it. Makes sense for it to be like this an overall a good design.

Manual Shifting the Automatic 2.5 AWD

Funny - I did the same thing a few days ago (forgot to report back) and soon as I hit the kick switch or whatever it went down into 3rd for me. I got a 2014 as well.

    rain-sensing wipers in the snow/slush

^^ Yup. I found the auto-sensing for snow only really works if it's warm & warm. If it's cold enough out it shouldn't stick and should just blow off. Misting unless you are passing a truck or something usually doesn't cause enough for it to go off in my experience.

    AWD/DSC and oversteer question

My gut feeling is coming from a STI you are probably driving it a bit over it's limits. I haven't had any oversteer or traction issues at all this winter and we've had plenty of snow days and lots of ice build up. As lots of people have mentioned it has no problem understeering and I've had...

Manual Shifting the Automatic 2.5 AWD

So if you are in 5th or 6th and drop the hammer it won't? Are you sure? Pretty much all cars seem to have that over-ride and I swear the CX5 did too.. will test tomorrow going to work I guess.

Manual Shifting the Automatic 2.5 AWD

I don't believe so. Pretty sure I've hit damn close or just after 6000rpm or so and it wasn't going to do anything on its own at that point :)
