Need help diagnosing noise from Engine (2013 CX-5)

Sounds like a pulley bearing going bad, maybe the tensioner or alternator, actually anything being driven by the belt

    2019 CX-5 Headlight Replacement

Answering a banned member... I don't use a dealer body shop for anything!! The work is always subpar, paint doesn't match, orange peel, dirt in paint, that's always been my experience. Look for a Gold Class/I-Car shop to start with. BodyShopology - Look for the Gold Class ® Logo...

    Oil pan bolt stripped threads

I did it all the time when my bolt was an allen key until they gave me a new oil pan because of leaks, 28 ft/lbs. Not a big fuss. By the way, that oil cost way more than that bolt did.

    Oil pan bolt stripped threads

For this kind of situation, and speaking from personal experience, ahem....they do sell self tapping oversized drain plugs for stripped plugs. Glad the dealer will resolve..

$4,200 a fair price for timing chain cover leak repair (CA)?

Kind of funny how the seeping probably wouldn't be considered a leak under warranty.

$4,200 a fair price for timing chain cover leak repair (CA)?

That's more than a set of tires! It's almost the cost of a new engine. If you're really concerned, I'd shop around for a reputable independent shop. Get another opinion.

    Interesting read on the CX-5

I found these comments of his interesting: "How to maintain my CX-5 so it'll last?" Transmission+differential+transfer case fluid every 50K miles (remember, there is no such thing as "lifetime fluid", manufacturer says there is just because of EPA and CAFE standards, so they could show that...

High Mileage CX-5s - report in

Yeah, I don't know that I'd trust anyone to do a proper repair to pull that apart and replace a seal, seeing what you went through.

Bottom covers are on. Oil pan was replaced in first year of ownership and they left the sticker on. If you want, I'll send you a photocopy and you can slap it on yours, lol.

It's not residue, dry as a bone there except for the corrosion. Been like that for years.

High Mileage CX-5s - report in

Just hit 91,000 miles, seems like relatively low miles compared to some others on this post. Just did a trans fluid drain and fill and changed engine oil (5w-30). Was impressed with how dry underneath looked. Looks like I'm going the distance with this one.

    Yes a 2023 CX-5 Oil Change Thread

It's probably the short OCI that kept it so clean. Had you gone 7k or 8k miles there'd probably be a little more varnish build up in there. Nice!

I never really gave that much thought but it is warranted in today's market. Totally agree and appreciate your perspective.

    Yes a 2023 CX-5 Oil Change Thread

Agreed. The longer oil change intervals are related to CAFE standards and the appearance of a car being more maintenance free, nothing more. The government wants less waste oil floating around. The shorter the OCI, the less problems you'll have when you hit that 200k mile mark. It's important to...
