Possibly moving to San Diego area. Info needed...

Hello, I'm a long time member of these forums, but have not been active in awhile. I currently live in GA and may be moving to the San Diego area in the near future. I have a built MS Protege and am trying to decide whether to bring it with me or cut my losses and sell it before I move. In GA we...

    VTCS & VICS questions

What up Scott? I've been around, just have not been active on the forums or been doing much with my car lately. Had to take a lil break from car stuff, it was all day everyday for a long time, since I still manage the shop. We'll have to meet up sometime.

    VTCS & VICS questions

Yup, I know. Somewhat relevant though. Gotta keep those solenoids in place though or it will throw a cel. I will say that without VICS and VTCS, the car is gonna act much differently though, especially when cold.

    VTCS & VICS questions

Been running a 626 manifold with no butterflys for a few years now with no problems. Edit: This manifold is on my built MSP, which of course originally had the manifold with VICS & VTCS.

    Oil loss prevention

I have that oil pan on my engine right now. Truthfully I'm a little dissapointed in the quality of some of the welding. There are places where oil seeps through the welds. Also, I'm using the AWR front and rear engine mounts. With those mounts, the oil pan is only a few millimeters from touching...

    What next?

Build the engine... Then reinforce your LSD... or at least start saving for these things. Keep chasing power in this car and you'll eventually need to do both.(2thumbs)

    Oil loss prevention

Original MSP owner here, had it since 03. At one time I was seeing a little oil consumption, but I've been running crankvents for several years now and I lose little to no oil between oil changes. Not, sure who, but there were a few other folks on here that were using them also. The pcv system...

    Headers

Wtf Why would you guys weld a cat in place when: 1.) You are putting an exhaust system in the car to gain hp and then counteracting your gains by installing a restriction (the cat). 2.) The cat will do absolutely nothing to help the car remain emissions compliant. 3.) You will need...

    wga e-clip

You can get an assortment pack from the autoparts store. It should have on that will work. If I rememnber correctly, it will not have a perfect size, but you can squeeze the closest size a little with pliers to make a tight fit. The e-clip will just snap on. A set of long curved pliers made it a...

    5th to reverse?

Yeah, I would just be careful until you do the Differential. I'm betting that the lever arm snapped and is stuck to the magnet at the bottom of the tranny. So long as it does not get into any of the gearing and you don't mis-shift into reverse, you'll be fine. If it's stuck to the magnet, it's...

    5th to reverse?

Yeah, I can dig up the part # for you. It is inside the tranny. you have to remove the differential to get at it. I might even be able to get a picture for you...

    5th to reverse?

There is definately a lock-out mech for reverse in the MSP tranny. I just replaced the one inside S.A.MSP's tranny when we had the diff welded. It is about a $45-$50 part.

    I see snow

This weather is bull s***. Not enough to be any fun, but enough to possibly make driving late tonight suck. That's Georgia though.

WTB: Upper Oil Pan For MSP

That's not the only damage. It is cracked all the way through and has a hole in it close to the turbo oil return line fitting also. I would not recommend trying to ghetto rig...

WTB: Stock 2.0L Protege FS Engine

Do you need the whole motor or just the bottom end. I have a stock bottom end with very low miles (about 25,000) sitting in a box here at the shop. Mazda put this shortblock into my car after a defective wrist pin caused my original motor to start knocking like crazy. After driving it with the...
