2013~2016 CX-5 Suspension noises and steering feels mushy

Wow, I know there’re several LCA bushing related TSBs but didn’t know they’re so many! I’m not sure why Mazda can’t design a more reliable bushing on front LCA after so many years on the CX-5?

2013~2016 CX-5 DIY Control Arm Replacement Difficulty?

If it's $1100 for just LCA replacement and alignment I'd really be questioning it. Somebody is getting rich if that's the case.

    2014 CX-5 100k service

So why there aren’t too many such complaints from other Japanese SUVs in the US? The front LCA bushings and ball joints are still original on my 1998 Honda CR-V with 191K miles driven on the awful US roads.

2013~2016 CX-5 DIY Control Arm Replacement Difficulty?

...install on the front strut and be able to adjust the front camber. The shop said I may need it just in case the camber is still off with a new LCA. I personally would like to have such feature with camber adjustment at front and took the offer. I may install another one on the driver...

    2014 CX-5 100k service

...in the fuel spray pattern, you can DIY easily by put in some good fuel injector cleaner such as Chevron Techron (Costco?) in gas tank. 3. Front LCA bushing and ball joint on CX-5 is problematic and there have been many updates based on many TSBs especially on early MYs. Compare to recently...

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Ah hah, outer LCA bushing appears to be toast. That could well be making my clunk sound! Looks like the LCA is sold complete, and it's hard to get the bushings separately. Pretty good prices on RockAuto, though.

What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Yeah, I think the best choice is the complete LCA, because you get all new bushings and ball joints.

Control Arm Shears off on a 2023 CX-50 with 2k miles

The ball joint sits in a nylon casing in the LCA, so if the nylon is cracked/impacted/worn/damaged, it can come out. That's what happened to my son's 2014, though it had over 200K miles on it, so not too surprised.

2013~2016 CX-5 DIY Control Arm Replacement Difficulty?

I now realized that the ball joint on the LCA isn’t strong on Mazda vehicles. My LCA was bent at ball joint location, and the ball joint itself had also become loose in the socket with torn rubber boot after the hard impact to the curb. And it’s been reported several times here where the ball...

Doing the brakes when you're old...

Ah the Capri, had a Yellow 72 with the Cologne 2600, 4 speed, that was then but now 52 years later and 73 year old have a CX-5 and 3 Sport. Did the four winter tires on both plus full oil and fluids last week in the driveway. Took three days to recover and ten minutes to get back up from the oil...

Control Arm Shears off on a 2023 CX-50 with 2k miles

WTF?? The way the NC incident reads the ball joint didnt break. It pulled thru the LCA and remained in the knuckle?? Thats absolutely nutz. I pictured the ball joint shearing in half. Jesus.

1st to 2nd Gen CX-5 Front control arm upgrade

I didn't get an alignment done, although I would recommend it, there is enough slop in the mounting holes to change the alignment a hair. I have had no issues in the last 6mo although I did notice a few weeks later the steering wheel was eeever so slightly off center after replacing the other...

    CX-5 Suspension control arm failure

As I mentioned in the other thread, you should check anti-sway bar links front and rear, which are common problem areas reported many times here.

    CX-5 Feels squirrelly

I can’t believe the LCA bushing on your 2014 CX-5 looked like that with only 60K miles! Looks like I need to check my front LCA bushings more often than I planned as I’ve seen a couple of TSBs which are related to bad LCA bushing.

2013~2016 Knock noise from CX-5 front

SAME exact situation. I put the jack under the LCA and raised/lowered and strut makes sound going up and down, I'm browsing struts to replace but you've already tried that so sounds like I'm screwed. Can you report back once the dealer diagnoses it?

2013~2016 CX-5 Suspension noises and steering feels mushy

That's amazing price wise. Cheapest I found online in the states was $185 each. Do you know by chance how long shipping takes from this site since it looks like it's coming from Japan?

2013~2016 CX-5 Suspension noises and steering feels mushy

...agree. Chris_Top_Her was a former Moderator for this CX-5 forum and his DIY experience is exceptional! I respect his “trash” comment to front LCA bushings and that many TSBs by Mazda prove his opinion. Further my 1998 Honda CR-V EX AWD with 192K miles still has original LCA bushings and...

2013~2016 CX-5 DIY Control Arm Replacement Difficulty?

So you did get a pair of new LCAs. I thought you only got new ball joints and bushings for your original LCAs. Looks like you’re going to replace most of the front suspension components? How many miles and what year is your CX-5? I guess you’d have to replace the rear sway bar links too, as...

2013~2016 CX-5 DIY Control Arm Replacement Difficulty?

WOW. TIL about the ball joint issues. Thank you for letting me know. I wasn't aware and now I will keep it in mind. Based on reading the threads I can totally anecdotally agree that the ball joints aren't as strong.
