    Who's on their second M5?

We're on our second manual trans. MZ5. Found an '08 Touring with a 5-speed last year and sold our '06 Sport. Both cars had about 37k miles when we made the switch. Other than replacing the crappy stock Toyos, the car will pretty much remain in stock form.

    WTB: OEM 16s from Mazda3

I am interested. Let me know details on tire brand and size, along with your asking price. I grew up in Catasauqua, and still have family there. Where in the LV are you?

With or without tires. Preferably within pickup distance of NJ/NYC area.

    When the Toyos Wear Out

I went with 205/55/16. 225/50s would also probably work.

    When the Toyos Wear Out

I went with 16s because they're cheaper than 17s, and because I wanted the extra sidewall as protection against the lunar-surface roads we have in NJ. The 16" Michelins improved the ride comfort over the stock 17" Toyos, but didn't have any noticeable drop off in performance.

    When the Toyos Wear Out

On my old 5, I downsized to 16" wheels with Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S tires. The Michelins were a vast improvement over the stock Toyos. They had great wet and dry grip, wore well and were comfortable and quiet. They also performed passably through 3 NJ winters. My new 5 will need new tires...

Used 2009 Sport or 2008 Touring

I posted a similar question a couple months ago, except it was a new '09 Sport vs. a 37k mile '08 Touring. The consensus favored the '09, but I went with the '08. So far, I'm happy with the choice.

    2006 Mazda 5 gs

FWIW, we just sold our '06 Sport manual with 37k miles for $9k USD. In cold weather, it had the noisy suspension issue, even after having the front control arm bushings replaced (for free pursuant to the TSB). The only other issues we had were the battery had to be replaced last winter...

Input wanted: Buy used '08 or new '09?

I'm sure it's not a slushbox -- drove it last weekend, and it has a real live clutch pedal. I've negotiated the price for the '08 down to $12,250, so I'm going for that one. Thanks for all the input, but with an almost $5k price differential, my inner cheapskate can't say no.

Input wanted: Buy used '08 or new '09?

Hi folks. We sold our 5-speed '06 Sport last week, and are looking at 2 potential replacements (both are silver): Option 1 is a 2008 Touring model with a 5-speed (yes, it really is an '08 Touring with a 5-speed). It has 37k miles, and is listed at $13,500. It's got some cosmetic issues, but...

Anybody know how to clean fuel injectors?

I just got the same BS from my dealer's service guy - $130 for injector cleaning on a 29k mile car?!? I don't think so. Techron for me.

    Changed My Cabin Filter

You can say that again. My 5 is at the dealer to check out an issue with the pass. side rear door lock. They want $89.95 to replace the cabin filters (!). (and $310 to replace rear brake pads . . . and $39.95 to replace the engine air filter . . .) Yep, a total of $440 for something that is...

    Feeler: '06 Mazda5 5-speed 29k miles $10k (NJ)

SOLD We're pondering upgrading to an '09, so we're testing the market for our current 5. Carbon Gray Mica with black cloth interior. Purchased new in April 2006. Now has just under 29k miles. The only options on the car are: fog lights, front mud guards, rear bumper step plate and wheel...

    10-lbs of crap in a 5-lb car

All true, but once unloaded, the 5 was much better-suited for zipping around, and parking with ease. We got 22mpg for the trip down, plus a week of around-town driving.

    10-lbs of crap in a 5-lb car

2 adults, 2 kids and 2 australian shepherds on a one-week vacation to the Jersey shore. The dogs got the best of it, as they had the entire area behind the 2nd row all to themselves. Exterior storage comes courtesy of: factory roof rack, Yak box (Craigslist), Curt 1 1/4" Hitch (e-trailer.com)...
