How to safely remove blue screen in brake master cylinder?

And be careful as the brake fluid is corrosive to the paint!

    Loud engine tick

The valve ticking noise is due to the original switchable hydraulic lash adjusters used on cylinder #1 and #4 are failing IMO. It’s a common problem on the 2.5L NA with cylinder deactivation and Mazda has revised those switchable HLA’s used for CD to fix the issue. See the TSB: 2018 CX-5 GT...

P0171 Code Came Back After Clearing

Are you saying the first CEL code after the loose gas cap is different from the current P0171? IMO the current CEL has nothing to do with the loose gas cap: Something else happened and you should let your Mazda dealer sort it out. And please keep us posted.

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Unfortunately it’ll get loose again. Loctite? See my previous post.

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

The first time when I noticed that T20 screw for rear view mirror was loose, my 2016 CX-5 is still under B-to-B warranty. I had the Mazda dealer to do the job. The Service Advisor showed me a Service Alert that Mazda advised dealers don’t tighten that T20 screw too much which could break the...

I have done that on mine at least 3 times, now it’s loose again. ☹️

    Thoughts on 0-20W Oil?

No, this definitely isn’t the case. You can find any viscosities of oil, including Toyota’s 0W-16 oil, and many different brands of oil you may not have seen here in other countries.

Front and Rear Differential fluid exchange - how much fluid?

You need more than 1 quart (so get 2 bottles) of Mazda Long Life Hypoid Gear Oil SG1 to replace both front transfer case and rear differential. The manual says the front needs 0.48 quart and the rear needs 0.48 / 0.37 quart, but in reality the rear needs about ⅔ quarts! 2013~2016: CX-5 Rear...

2.5L NA Cracked Cylinder Head with Oil Leaking

This reminds me that I saw a pile of Mazda’s broken rotary engines sitting in the back yard of a local Mazda dealership in 1990’s.

2.5L NA Cracked Cylinder Head with Oil Leaking

In this case you should try to demand a new engine as coolant in the oil definitely can harm the bearings、piston rings、 and many engine internal parts. Dealer’s repair work now really can’t be trusted. There’re too many screw-ups nowadays unfortunately!

2.5L NA Cracked Cylinder Head with Oil Leaking

Or at least offers something like a Customer Service Program (CSP11) issued for the 2.5T to extend the limited powertrain warranty to 10 years/120K miles for any owners experiencing the coolant leak.

2.5L NA Cracked Cylinder Head with Oil Leaking

I don’t believe there’s a TSB from Mazda for the cracked head on 2.5L NA with CD yet. The closest one is this Service Alert that covers all the 2.5L NA with CD since 2018 MY. Service Alert No.: SA-037/23 New Cylinder Head Established The Service Alert basically helps the Mazda dealers to...

2.5L NA Cracked Cylinder Head with Oil Leaking

Some people got confused about cracked cylinder head problem on Mazda’s engines. Mazda has been offering 2 engines on CX-5, a 2.5L NA with cylinder deactivation, and a 2.5T in recently years. Unfortunately both engines suffered cracked cylinder head problem. The 2.5L NA with CD started in...

2.5L NA Cracked Cylinder Head with Oil Leaking

A new Honda Accord? You’d better do some research on problems from that 1.5L Turbo. Although I have a 1998 Honda CR-V with 195K miles which is very reliable, but newer Honda’s is a different story and I wouldn’t want one.

    Cracked Engine Block (2018 CX-5)

You can say that to Mazda’s 2.0L / 2.5L NA engines without cylinder deactivation used before 2018 MYs. Since Mazda modified the reliable cylinder head of the 2.5L N.A. for 2018 MY to add cylinder deactivation, I don’t believe the current 2.5L NA engine with CDA is as reliable as the original...

    Cracked Engine Block (2018 CX-5)

You can say that the cracked head affects mostly the 2.5T but that’s also for 2020 MY and prior before Mazda modified the cylinder head and the exhaust manifold gasket. Mazda has also issued a Customer Service Program (CSP11) to extend the limited powertrain warranty to 10 years/120k mi for...

CX-5 Oil Consumption - Non Turbo with CDA @ 70,000 miles

Thanks for the update. And it’s nice to have the CPO warranty. Honestly I really don’t believe the oil leak from front timing chain cover is the reason to your sudden oil loss. Although the oil seepage from timing chain cover is a known issue and there’s a TSB for it, it’s a very slow...

CX-5 Oil Consumption - Non Turbo with CDA @ 70,000 miles

You should check the back side of the cylinder head by yourself first and see if there’s any sign of oil leaks before you go to the dealer.
