I use the rubber pads too. You may need to have the jack stand go one click higher than you think, to allow for compression of the pad.

Do it all the time to rotate tires. The front of the car is heavier so I raise the front first, and put the front jack stands under it then do the back. It probably makes no difference however. I am scared to go under the car when it is up on 4 jack stands, the couple times I went under the car...

I have 17 year old oil in my basement, the bottles have not discolored at all. I think it is light that discolors the bottles. My old oil is for lawn equipment, I have no worries at all about using my old oil.

My guess is the spark plugs need to be replaced, that they are not OEM spec.

Does the scratch look less noticeable whey you wet it? If so it may mostly disappear by using a polishing compound.

Maybe it's the mass airflow sensor. Isn't it terrible that we second guess the dealership's diagnostic?
