New Brake Pad Recommendations for 2016.5 GT AWD?

Interesting. Thanks for the clarification on the pads never changed.

New Brake Pad Recommendations for 2016.5 GT AWD?

I'll second that. On previous cars the fronts wore a lot faster than rears.

Dealership saying drive belt and tensioner?

Well, I would think that if you read the above conversations that it probably isn't in your best interest financially to have the dealer do the job for$574. I find it suspect that the belt (assuming serpentine belt) is cracked at 36,000 miles. Maybe (that's maybe) some oil from the tensioner...

New Brake Pad Recommendations for 2016.5 GT AWD?

I remember that rear brake pads have a material thickness of 6 mm when new. With a 2 mm minimum thickness (time to change) that leaves 4 mm of usable wear. So, 5mm would indicate more than 50% pad life remaining. So here it gets interesting assuming front and rear pads have the same mileage on...

New CX-5 pulls to the right even though alignment is good

Makes me wonder if there is a problem in the steering rack or the electric assist (on the steering column under the dash) has a centering problem.

    Thumping sound from CX-5 rear

With that amount of mileage there's no telling what the source is. Rather than zero-in on one particular item, thorough full undercarriage inspection, front to back might expose various things worn and needing attention soon.

New Brake Pad Recommendations for 2016.5 GT AWD?

The OP mentions squealing under braking. Could be the normal squealing alert from the "scraper/squealer" affixed to the brake pad doing it's job indicating pad material is getting low.

2024 CX-5 GS Ride Quality and Noise Levels

I haven't been following this thread but just went back to the first page of this very lengthy thread and read what the OP posted. Summary of my thoughts. 1) this is a mess 2) the YOKO's (G91) same as I had..... suck. They ride harsh. That's why they got changed at 3k miles. Subaru owners with...

2024 CX-5 GS Ride Quality and Noise Levels

Just as a follow up and reminder. Tires pressures need adjusting with seasonal changes. Cold weather drops the pressure and warm weather increases it. Daily temperature changes make a difference. The rule of thumb is 1 psi change (up or down) per 9*F change. The tires at 35 psi on a cool 60* F...

2024 CX-5 GS Ride Quality and Noise Levels

As mentioned above, the CX-5 is tuned a bit stiffer for handling. It's what helps to make you feel like your are "driving" instead of operating an appliance. Regarding the Pirelli's, experiment a little with different tire pressures. Try them at 36 psi ( cold, before driven) and go from there...

    Costco gas

I posted above that my car always runs good on Costco 87. I didn't think to mention the one time I used the high test (thought it is 93 instead of 91). It ran "OK". Rather surprised. Never bought it again. Like the 87 better. Now Costco gas here is supplied by Marathon whose gasoline, over the...

    Costco gas

Last year when gassing up at Costco I chatted with the pump attendant. He pointed out 2 additional tanks and said that Costco has double additives in that they put in a second additive beyond what's already in the gasoline. This must be the Lubrizol. Perusing the third document linked above...

Power driver side window shuddering and stopping

Interesting fix. Glad you resolved it without much expense.

Power driver side window shuddering and stopping

Just found this video for regulator replacement. Bit more involved than one's I did as the regulator mounts to an additional panel that gets removed ,but still doable.

Power driver side window shuddering and stopping

If you decide to replace the regulator with an aftermarket brand you might want to remove and save the motor (if still functional) from the original one ,that is assuming it looks the same and would fit the aftermarket one. Probably held on with 2 screws. I had a motor failure on an aftermarket...

Power driver side window shuddering and stopping

Good for you bailing out of the dealer. I'm sure that a lot of us here would do the same. The best way to start is pulling the door panel and inspecting for binding mechanism while running it up and down and grabbing the glass pane and try to move it around by pulling different directions to see...

Brand new CX-5 Turbo Vibration at 55-67mph

First I've heard of A/C condenser prone to leakage. Have other members here experienced this?

Guide BG Engine Performance Restorer Oil Flush Works!

I read that comment. I already use good quality gas and oil with lower mileage change intervals. Decent quality filters too. I'm not much of a believer of the "snake oil, miracle product, mechanic in a can" type of additives. However, a legitimate looking product (at least causes no harm) could...

Dealership saying drive belt and tensioner?

Glad you got it sorted out. Yup, changing the tensioner is a tight squeeze. My tensioner leaked about 7 years ago at 29k miles. The dealer said they usually leak around 40k miles. Was out of 3/36 B-B factory warranty and not covered by 5/60 drivetrain warranty. The dealer quoted $450 for new...

Dealership saying drive belt and tensioner?

No need to change the water pump especially in light of the high mileage CX-5's with original pump. Also, the water pump is driven by it's own (stretch) belt. The tensioner is only for the serpentine.
