Rod, In California you property tax works out to 1.25% of the purchase price of the house. Figure if you buy a $300,000 house you'll be paying $3750 a year in property tax. You can either have this paid through an escrow account with your mortgage, adding $312.50 to you monthly mortgage...

    Anyone have DirecTV or DishNetwork???

It's going to depend a lot on when you are. Here I have to deal with both of the cable companies and both satellite companies here through work for customers and I can tell you that Comcast sucks, Time Warner is actually good and both DirecTV and DISH are pretty easy to deal with and rarely...

    Audio problems! Help!

Very simple, it's a protection circuit in almost every radio. If they kept trying to play with a shorted out speaker wire it would cause the radio amp to fry and you actually would have a bad unit. Better for all sound to cut out rather than just the one speaker, otherwise you might not know...

Try checking to dome light fuse, which is also the fuse for the memory power for the radio and possibly for the keyless entry as well. Just double check all the fuses.

    Excessive rear brake wear

Thanks mastertech, It's the first problem, still had 50% on both inside adn outside fronts adn outside rear with the inside rears worn all the way down. Went and checked the e-break tension and it was fine, actually a little loose so I tightened it up to spec. Can't say if the rear tension...

    windshield crack...

You can have a new one put in for about $190. Done this once on my wife's P5 already, though we didn't have to pay for it as it was a city garbage truck that wasn't properly covered that caused it. She's going to have to replace it again as she just had a stone kicked up by a tour bus put a...

    Excessive rear brake wear

Need to know if anyone has run in to this. I was doing the 60,000 mile check up on my wife's P5 and the rear inside pads were worn almost all the way down. I've never run in to this before and wonder if anyone knows what could be causing it?

    Thinkin about getting married

Marriage can be wonderful adn it can suck, just like most relationships. If you havn't been dating for at least a year then don't do it as you need to spend more time together first, also if you can live together first as you get a little more insight in to each other, not just the public face...

    Tool Brand of Choice

I've got almost exclusively Snap-On with a little Craftsman. For me Sears stuff breaks too often, even with the convinient replacement, compaired to Snap-On. Probably a hang over from having worked the hardware department at Sears when I was a kid and having to replace so much of it. That an I...

    4 x 4 owners? Help me

Basically with a 4X4 you are adding twice the drive train issues since you have both front and rear axles and gears to deal with. Overall as long as you maintain it and check everything periodically you should be fine but if this vehicle has been used for heavy off-road use at 18,000 miles a...

Install question for VW 1996 Golf

He's right though, some of us are, or in my case, used to be professional installers. In answer to your question you will also need an antenna adapter as the antenna connection on most german cars is different than that of others. You'll also need to use the Ford radio removal keys that you...

    car anti-theft devices

It's an old style RF pager, meaning if you are in a concrete and steel building you can expect significantly less range out of it. The 1/2 mile range is the best you can hope for in a flat corn field, any time you are in a city with large buildings your range will really start to suck. My...

    Alpine subs

Depends on what you are using to power them, the dual 2 ohms will max the power output form a stereo amp that is bridged while the dual 4 ohms will max the output from a mono amp. Other differences are the fact that the Type-R subs are a better designed sub with more power handling than the Type-S.
