I totally agree! On Mazda homepage (on the MS3's intro) the MS3 looks like a family car. Although I know Mazda wasn't going for the racey, Evo look, in pictures (from the front at least) the car resembles a cross-over; Too high off the ground and not agressive enough. I guess it better this way...

I'm fine with process, if the engineers from Mazda say it's OK, but on another car wouldn't this make the engine rev while the clutch is down, thus burning the clutch?

I don't drive a 3 YET, but I was having the same problem on my Focus (yes, I'm ashamed ) and it was the motor mount. It cost me about $200 to get it fixed.
