    How low (BG)?

Arms level is good. You could probably go a hair lower, but I wouldnt go much more than 2.5deg past level. I did the math for my car(91 MX6) a while back when I had the arms at about 5deg past level and the roll centers were about 3" below the ground. The lower you go, the faster roll centers...

Justin...did you get the wiring diagrams from me about the tiny denso alternator? If not here is how I got mine to work, I get a solid 14.8v and it charges well. http://www.mx6.com/forums/1607517-post1.html Gavin

Pretty sure the 3l v6s wont fit into the engine bay of an 82 accord without some SM adjustments. Whats the suspension on an 82 anyway? yikes. I was actually thinking something closer to home...Mazda. "626 ALL" Gavin

Id guess so. The g-type trans has been a workhorse for a number of years and chassis types, but I dont think they can be called the most robust of mazda transmissions when the power and torque starts increasing. The old 93-97 MX6 guys have had issues with cracked transmission cases (I imagine...

Torque multiplication and 275mm worth of hoosier A forward bite? You are correct though, with 110hp and 100ft/lbs or so, its going to be pretty hard to crack a gear. I think you guys are plenty safe. Jeff popped his 2nd gear with a combination of torque multiplication, 275 hoosiers and changing...

Pretty standard thing to have a wheel pulled at a tour or divisionals on this side of the world. Its usually a random group that gets chosen at a tour, bring a jack and jackstand because the group that gets randomly chosen might be yours. Generally, its for competitors to look around and do a...

I know nothing. I deny everything You already know what I think of the dual setup, but heres something interesting I saw. Nate Whipple in the north east is working on an ITR for DSP. I dont know the full details of his setup, but it entails really high springrates(900-1000lbs?) with minimal/no...

http://sccaforums.com/forums/thread/289241.aspx Keep an eye out for how this turns out. I have nothing against my fellow ST* bretheren....but Im not really liking the whole "lets slip some rules into SP from the not-really-well-thought-out-rules from ST" direction. This makes two attempts at...

    Best strut/$$$ option for MSP

Nope. You have it right. As a matter of fact, we both have been explaining the same thing(just in different ways). Theres a minimum and max length to meet. Minimum is stock strut body+stock bumpstop, maximum is stock strut body and extended strut shaft (plus/minus 1"). For the minimum you can...

    Best strut/$$$ option for MSP

Ack...Im a dumass. The struts I measured were complete units with springs so I couldnt actually measure to the bottom of the threaded portion. That above sentence should have read that I measured from the bosttom of the struts to the top of the threaded portion of the strut shaft, not the...

    Best strut/$$$ option for MSP

I see where you are coming from, but I think you are measuring from the wrong direction. Heres how I read it. Bolding is mine. Compress both struts with a stock length bumpstop on the shaft. Is the "new" strut, when compressed, longer or shorter than the stock strut when compressed? -If the...

    Best strut/$$$ option for MSP

The talk about the bumpstop is a red herring. Dont worry about it as its a non-issue in the end. I used a pretty large(but not longer than stock) bumpstop on my car, worked fine by my account. Theres no restriction on compression length, just overall length of the strut/shock. Gavin

    Best strut/$$$ option for MSP

I pulled out a set of 88-92 MX6 strut assemblies to check on their length. Measuring like Moxnix (bottom of the strut to top of unthreaded portion of the shaft) I got 52cm(20.5") for the front and 63.4cm(25") for the rears. So it looks like the standard protege struts are about 1" longer. Thats...

    Best strut/$$$ option for MSP

If it is that you would need to add a length of threaded collar then that would eliminate the need for a spacer. That is, just add the neccessary length needed and no more. Another thought would be to have the RACE inserts shortened by the needed amount to fit the strut and gland nut...

    Best strut/$$$ option for MSP

eh? Not sure I follow wrt shaft length. In my particular application where the strut was 2" longer than the insert, after spacing there was a 1" shortfall for shaft length extension. The protege uses a strut that is 1" shorter than my application thus there is less to be made up for by a...

    Best strut/$$$ option for MSP

Ive been running my GS car in this configuration for the last couple of years which included a couple national tours. Its legal. Cant remember when and where all of this was sorted out (maybe miata.net?). I think the original issue was to do with the fact that some/most full body shocks were...

    Best strut/$$$ option for MSP

All one needs to be stock legal is a simple spacer in the stock bodies. The spacer makes up the neccessary length to have the full extended length of the complete strut unit within the 1" rule. heres my version of things...

I wont muck up your build thread with my blitherings, but if youd like to look at a setup of another old-school strut mazda of @ the same vintage, send me a PM. Its a heavier, more powerful car but its using a staggered setup (275x10.5"/ 225x9") and by blind luck or design works damn well. Who...
