Embarasing to say, but it turns out we just had a loose battery cable. I did not check that since the car has only been in for oil changes and the power steering service recall. I guess that saying about first principles of trouobleshooting applies here. Is there power?
We had this service performed on our 2009 Mazda 5 when the notice first came out. No noticable changes after the service. Then yesterday (Aug 2011) we had the symptoms come on strong while driving home from vacation. When we slowed down to city speeds steering effort immediately increased. what...
Anyone know where to find a mileage book?
I've looked at Fred Meyer, K-mart, Autozone, a Texaco Foodmart, Longs Drugs, Bartells and Walgreens! They all knew what it was but non of them carry one.

I liked my Miata a lot more than I like my Protege. With two kids and my wife back to working, we both need cars that can carry both the boys in it. Don't geet me wrong, the Protege 5 is a great car and I like it a lot but if you don't need the extra seating and cargo space the Miata is a much...
On my Miata I was pulled over for no plate and several other people I know have been also. I don't think it looks so bad on the Protege 5, but it looks awful on a Miata so people are more lilkely to take the risk.
Thanks for the info. I'm getting an alignment tomorrow and I'll have them make special note of rear settings. I have seen other messages about P5's eating tires in the rear.
EPA tested and approved? Is that the Environmental Protection Agency, or Edward Patrick Anderson??
Since they'r throwing up to before the words horsepower increase, they may as well say your horsepower increase is up to 500hp although it's more like .001 hp.
I need to find a mile check to know for sure, but when I was choosing tires a search of the forum someone noted 215/40 instead of the MSP stock 215/45 yields accurate mielage on the P5
That's what I had installed on mine tonight. I'll have to find a nice twisty road tomorrow to get some perspective. But that seemed the best option from searching the forums.
I've only just driven home from the dealer in traffic, so over the next few days I'll pay special attention. I've always had cars with fairly light wheels. My Miata had 9 1/2 lb wheels. I know the extra rotational weight will affect performance, so maybe I'm being over sensitive. They look nice...
Driving home after installing 17" '03.5 Mazdaspeed Racing Harts on my Protege 5 the car felt a little... Sluggish, tardy. The tires are BFGoodrich KDW-2s 215/40/17.
Is this because the wheels and tires are that much heavier than the 16" wheels and tires that I took off, or is it just a sign...
Actually, if it is only slightly bent, you should see about having a mobile wheel repair guy fix it. I had that done on my BMW and they turned out perfect.
Thank's that's just what I neede to know!
My P5 wheels are going on the MPV and for that I'll probably just buy whatever lug nuts the tire shop has on hand.
Hi,
I just bought some used '03 Racing Hart wheels for my Protege 5. My question is will I need to order matching lug nuts from Mazda? I have the polished 16" wheels with chrome lug nuts and am concerned that they might stand out against the new wheel. I won't have a chance to look at them...
