Yep. "Ghost Touch". See this: Mazda Infotainment Settlement
...and this was my experience (note that the screen itself - which is the primary cause - is NOT part of the settlement:

Went to get an oil change today and told the service guy that we had the ghosttouch issue and I showed him the class action card we got. He said that was no problem and they'd done a bunch already, but that Mazda wanted to charge a $50-100 co-charge. I thought the whole point was that this...
Just as an update. In my case the dealer swapped out the screen on our 2019 for a $75 'donation'. More, including a scan of the info on the ticket, here: GhostTouch screen replacement at dealer - anyone get charged?
...are stopped or using CarPlay or AA. I personally don't use the touchscreen in my CX50 Hybrid or my 19 CX5. In fact the 19 CX5 came down with a bad case of the ghosttouch so I just pulled the unit and disconnected the ribbon cable that supports the touch screen. I always just use the jog...
It is absolutely TERRBILE that they excluded the screen considering I feel that the ghosttouch issue eventually would have a detrimental effect on the screen causing it to fault as well. Considering the main fix has been to CUT the damn touch cable.
No, it's the screen itself that's at fault. The touch sensor goes bad and so registers random 'touches'. Others that have fixed theirs themselves have replaced either the whole screen, or just the touch sensor on top of the screen. In fact, if you look at my ticket above, the only part the...
Yes, the whole piece that sticks up out of the dash. Installed it yesterday and twice now it has acted like it has the ghosttouch. Thinking about returning it.
Search for "Ghost touch" in the forums. You'll find plenty of info. There was a class-action suit and Mazda has extended the warranty for 2 more years to replace the screen. You'll need to go to your dealer.
Hello,
Just bought a new to us 2018 cx5. The touch screen had the “ghosttouch” issue so I bought a replacement from Amazon. Installed it but the touch part only worked in one very small spot. Figured it was bad. Ordered another one from another supplier. I cannot find any spots the touch part...
...is a software upgrade. (It did nothing to solve the issue.) Oh, and before I left the dealer they gave me a printout of suggested services which included this: Screen has internal failure code, causes ghost tough issues. Nice. And they can fix the ghosttouch issue for $701.01 if I pay...
Hey! Just hit 100k miles this morning on the way to work. Happy Birthday to me! Still running strong and quiet, no leaks, great gas mileage, and looks good. Only problem is the ghosting touch screen. Looks like a keeper. Now, on to 200,000 miles...
...a computer software.
Through that software I can see and delete not just the usual CEL faults but also some other faults that you don;t normaly detect, I would not see any light on the dashboard. For example, I could see faults related to the touch screen, the ghosttouch generated a fault...
Well, THAT's interesting. I thought I'd read that the screen WAS covered (else why the 'ghost touch' issue?) But I went to re-read the settlement, and sure enough, it only reads that the CMU is covered. WTF?
So, I've always liked my dealer's service dept, and this just makes me like them...
One a previous post I advised you to buy the whole display, not just the touch screen, precisely to avoid these kind of issues. It's a bit more expensive than just the touch screen but you are better off.
I got the notice but no longer have the 2020 CX-5.
In other news, my Mother's 2019 Subaru Legacy had the ghosttouch issue, and her infotainment system was replaced.
I was having the ghosttouches and the bootloops and the other various software issues with my '16 CX-9. Car at the dealership now, they replaced the CMU (covered under Class Action) but apparently the old Nav card is causing things to glitch and I *need* a new one for a charge of roughly $550...
