Umm, you talking to me???

I'm from WA. I was simply taking offence to the idea that seing as I'm "only" from WA, that I don't know what snow is.

.
oops, soory...thought you had made that post, but it was Memo.....(dunno)
I didnt mean to get anyone riled up, I guess I just have a different opinion of how the suby is in the snow than some other people.....we have a huge parking lot at work, and when it snowed a few times I tried to get the car to do doughnuts, I put it in drive, cut the wheel, and nailed the gas, and no matter how I tried, the car would not spin the tires....in my P5 I cant even get the car to move when i do that, it just spins the tires, and while I know this isnt a true cornering test, I cant see how anyone would think the p5 corners better....
hey, if you are happy with the p5 in the snow, thats great.....thats all that matters....and if it really handles as good as some of you guys say it will with good tires, then it must just be the stock tires that suck so bad....
peace

Not a prob... However, agian not in the sake of feuding, parkinglot doughnuts really don't have tons to do with anything... Did you have your P5 there side by side with it??? some snow is decieving. And again, this is a "stomp on the gas" kind of situation. where it's accelleration. I for one have done some fun side-ways subaru parkinglot action... In slick snow they're pretty easy to toss sideways under power (much more so than a FWD car) But again, it only helps you GO faster, doesn't help for much else.

Hey, BTW.. get out and ride? ridewhat? I'm bike addict. I've noticed there seems to be a good number of P5 owning cyclists.

How does P5 handle in snow? Well depends on two things in my opinion. Tires, and driver. Perfect example...

P5 + Worn Stock Tires + stupid driver (me) + snow = ....

ouch.... that hurts man... So is that sliding sideways up onto the concrete bit, or driving off the end of it?? You still driving that car? it come out okay???

Sideway, the rear trailing link climb the beginning of that rail and it slided sideways onto that point. Came out okay? NOT!

It does good, I drove mine through almost a foot with stock tires last winter. Then I got some Michelin Artic Alpins, and it was unstoppable. I went through some decent drifts in my parents yard to get up the unplowed driveway. I had to watch myself because I was driving my normal speed on the backroads when the roads were covered! (ie 50 in a 35 zone with 5" of snow) AWD is nice, but I've also dragged S10's up a steep hill with my 81 MUSTANG 2.3. In fact I towed alot and drove through all kinds of snow and ice with that POS.

It's all in the tires, I've gotten my crown vic stuck horribly in my driveway in 2 feet of snow, then dug the ass end out slapped some snows on there and I was gone...

I actually race mountainbikes, have since 93....I think now seeing your signature that says Yakima, that I might have sent you a link on a thread about Yakima racks for the p5......I was at a race this weekend, but since my new dh bike isnt back from paint yet I was a course marshall for the weekend....a buddy of mine is the promoter and one of my team sponsors, and he needed help, so I figured why not.......Im growing out of the racing thing though, I kinda just like being there and hanging out with a bunch of other bike nuts....(bike)
I noticed at the race this weekend there were three or four other p5's in the lot, and theres not too many of them around here, so that was cool......when I get my new bike finished I will post a pic of it on top of my car....

*L* yea I remember that now... Hmm... WHat kinda new sled ya gettin? I've been looongsince outta DH. Used to race EX class on one'a the first production stabs in like '98... I had a Giant AC after that, but it really never was enough to hang. I've gone the hardtail "slalombike" route and been having fun riding again. My buddy actually started building frames so that's fun I got to design my own frame. http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=15620&highlight=simple I am kinda pondering some more gravity-fun again, though. big bikes are just soomuch fun, and they've come SOOO damn far...

I think that the P5 sucks big donkey balls in the snow. If you have snow tires then I think you'll be ok. The stock tires just plain suck in the snow, I almost didnt make it to the IL meet in Feb. due to no traction (stopping or starting).

I have been driving in the snow since I started driving, and am quite good at it. But with the stock tires don't plan on going anywhere.

Yoooooo.....a buddy of mine is making bikes now too....cromoly hardtails and full suspension bikes.....the fully's look alot like a Santa Cruz Bullit, but much beefier and of course cromo instead of aluminum...should be alot stronger as most of my budds had bullits and broke them....
heresb a link to a pic of the newest one...

I am totally sick of racing too, its way expensive, even with sponsors, but its a blast riding at warp speed down the mountain on your bike....the dh race scene is big around here, at this weeks race we had 180 racers, and thats with a major race going on in N.J., which took many of the experts and pro's with it......we are filming the whole series and are in the process of making our 3rd dvd bike racing video too....
so anyways, enough about the damn bikes, Im gonna go wash my car and then take a ride(eekdance)
