Not really that big of a deal, it just took a shitload of time to mask it all off and s***, and im really pleased with the results, so i figured it post a pic or two. :)

That looks damn good Dex. What color of paint did you use? In the first pic it looks damn close to spicy orange minus the pearl coat. In the second it looks more like red.

I'm still debating between having the entire thing sprayed spicy orange when I get some other pieces painted and having the "DOHC 16-VALVE" masked off so it will be black or just following your example.

Thanks. The color looks different because the camera was on two different modes (still kinda figuring it out...)

its Safety Red from Rustoleum Professional. yakno, the really tall can.

Looks damn good, i was thinking of doin the exact thing to my yellow msp...thought about painting my lettering yellow...you used spray paint or did you brush it on? Nice work!

That's pretty sweet...never seen anyone do just the letters before. I did mine red with Duplicolor Metalcast (the stuff for brake calipers). I'm gonna put it up for sale soon as I'll be painting my valve cover & heat shield. My only question is, when I paint the valve cover, do I just cut off the bolts or whatever the metal things are that hold the plastic cover on?

I masked it off with regular masking tape and spray painted it. Thanks for the compliments. I did it over the course of 3 days...I had DOHC 16- done and i didnt want to finish because i was afraid i would **** it all up. lol.

Um, id see if anyone wants to trade you a regular valve cover. The one with the bolts doesnt say "MAZDA" on it. Its just plain, so you might want to sell it to the dude youre selling the plastic one too...

About the lettering: I don't know if you know/remember but im pretty sure Big Ben had his cover painted yellow with red lettering.

would that be too much yellow? i am thinking about purchasing a yellow loom kit as well. i aslo have a red powder coated strut bar....just a thought

Good idea...maybe someone local will be interested.

Never saw that, but I meant just the letters (which looks better than 2 colors IMO).

MSP#735: Personally, whenever I see red & yellow, I think of McDonalds, so I'm not sure if you want to do that.

Hmm very true, any suggestions on color schemes? I want to really think this out before i do it, ya know?

Well yellow is fine, but not with a red strut bar. IMO, the strut bar should be either black or the stock silver. It's just not the kind of thing that looks good with color. So black & yellow would look decent or you can copy JUN by doing yellow & green. :p

nice work dexter!! i just did my new fiberglass cover from DGM last week.

Did you use the Mazda emblem from someone's front grille? It looks bad ass!
it's actually the rear emblem. i bought it new, got ripped, (shrug) oh well.
the front was to large for the indentation. fit perfect! thanks for the compliment!!

wow dex, that looks great! I can't start to imagine how you taped it off for the letter C or something that is curved! :D

(thumb) looks GREAT.
