Both Xenon headlights don’t work

It seems both failed at same time. I noticed it 2 weeks after the dealer installed a new alternator. (First time driving at night since they installed alternator).

The dealer says both are burned out - they showed me with a new bulb ordered for another car. But I’m suspicious.

Do you think when they installed the new alternator they forgot to attach the headlamp lead? Or maybe a power surge?

The fuses and switch and auto twilight front running lights work fine. So do the fog lamps all operated from same switch. Maybe trying to get another job? They’re actually a bit cheaper here (Thailand) than US - around $150 each - still that hurts and I’m suspicious. Any pro views? Cx-5 2014 2.5L

Check with a voltage meter to confirm if the headlights are being powered. If they are, likely (but also unlikely both) bulbs are bad.

Maybe the bulbs were burned out by the old alternator. Time for a little story. Many years ago on a car old enough to have sealed beam headlights and a generator (not alternator) the low beams burned out because of a bad ground on the mechanical voltage regulator. Happened while merging onto the interstate. Quickly switched to high beams which were extremely bright and pulsating. The woman driving the car in front of me probably thought a UFO was following her. My dash mounted ammeter showed 60 amps. Stopped at a gas station off the interstate and got new headlights (try that today). Drove home with everything electrical turned on and still had 45 amps showing on the gauge. The generator got so hot that melted solder from the armature was slung around the inside of the housing. All because of a corroded screw connection that mounted the regulator to the firewall.

Just replace it with LED convertion kit wayy better .
