What did you pay for your CX-5?

Car was loaded with overpriced options, door edge guard, leather seat coating, 3 years of AWAS satellite tracking which stopped working, extended warranty, etc. During initial negotiation with salesman, all of options was to be included and out the door price was MSRP. After the finance manager got involved, whatever the salesman agreed was ignored and the dealer installed options was added on top of MSRP. It's either that or you're not getting that car, which at the time was in short supply. The entire sales process was 3 hours. Buying a Tesla seems the way to go.

So, you (the customer, who has the money that the dealership wants) made your choice to tolerate the dealer add-ons and 3 hour sales process to obtain the cx5 (that you perceived was in short supply) . You could have walked away from the deal and shopped elsewhere. A new vehicle is a commodity... You can buy the same cx5 at hundreds of different dealers across the country.

Respectfully @LACX5 , you need to own the fact that you traded the convenience of having the CX5 that day for paying extra money instead of walking away. Which is fine if your time is of more value to you than the extra cost. Life is replete with choices 😀. I've seen through a dozen or so posts from you on this subject of your feelings of the dealer finance guy mislead you and you had trusted them. So chalk that buyers remorse up to experience I suppose 🤷‍♂️.

Hopefully you've enjoyed the car over the last three years. That would make it double bad if you didn't at least enjoy the car!

Good luck to you in future purchases. Maybe even something like a "buyer's agent" would be better for you?

I would have walked for sure, but if you needed a car and they knew it, the salespeople smelled blood in the water. I don't mind dealerships at all, but I despise the salesperson "culture" of marking something up and/or adding products and services and saying they can't be removed in order to jack up the price, just because "all the other dealerships are doing it".

This might be a good time to plug one of our authorized forum vendors, @Ninja_Matt over at AutoNinjas.com. They specialize in leases, but according to this post from earlier in this thread, they can also help facilitate cash/finance purchases as well. Their service fee is $599, which can sometimes pay for itself if they can find you the car you want at a better starting price. They were offering a discount of $200 off their service fee to Mazdas247 members, but I believe that promo ended in June.

Thanks for the shoutout here, I HATE seeing people get bad deals on cars. It is worth noting our service is with specific dealers within our network and is partly regional, for full disclosure, but we have a rapid expansion plan in place to be more nationwide by Q2 2025.

Our service is $599, but I will gladly extend our $200 off offer for all Mazdas247 members still - also worth noting we charge $0 to inquire with us, talk with our reps and get personalized quotes so you can make a fully informed decision and weigh the value of our service vs other offers.

Not only do our clients save thousands off the sale price of cars through us (not including rebates, true dealer discount savings) but sale price is only one part of it as I can see @LACX5 may have experienced. We also help vet out the dealer add ons and hidden mark ups you may not easily notice or catch. On top of that, you go through my team of reps instead of the dealer during the quoting part of the process so no dealer negotiations, just transparent online quoting.

While we do specialize in leasing, we absolutely can do finance/cash purchases as well. I will link to our public specials for both the Northeast and Southeast regions if anyone is interested. We do not currently support CA/West Coast - there are regulatory hurdles as well as infrastructure for us, we are planning on opening an office in CA and launching a dedicated West Coast team early 2025.

Quick note on this post - please make sure to use our Mazdas247 inquiry form in order to qualify for the $200 off discount!

Also, worth giving us (and Mazdas247!) a follow on X/Twitter if you use that platform, we often post exclusive limited time offers on X/Twitter for all of our brands, but including Mazda of course which continues to be one of our top brands.

Also on a final note (I promise!) if anyone in the Northeast or Southeast has been on the fence on a CX70, this is the month that programs got really good - like almost $300/mo good. Okay done with the thread jacking, Zoom Zoom!

Which tells me the CX-70 isn't doing very well. Not surprised....
Well you aren't wrong, from a sales performance viewpoint, the CX70 was a flop. Mazda built the CX70 on the same production lines as CX90, which means several months back they slowed or stopped production on CX90s (which have been incredibly popular since their release) temporarily in order to ramp up production for a big release on the CX70. What happened in our world is that CX90 inventory dwindled and has been at low levels for the last few months, while CX70 inventory has become plentiful. To the point that both dealers and Mazda over anticipated their success by overbuilding CX70 and it ended up being a sales flop, at least at launch.

So now many dealers have as much as a 20/80 mix inventory of CX90 to CX70 when everyone wants CX90 and no ones paying a premium for a 2 row version. So this month we saw a two-fold change, at least within our channels - both the manufacturer and our dealers moved all their incentive onto the CX70 to move out this sitting inventory and is now pricing the CX70 to a much more favorable place, in turn we're having the most successful CX70 month to date and arguably now a more successful month than the CX90 initial launch which resulted in a months long waitlist for us. Long story short, a 2-row version of a 3-row car will never sell well if its priced even just slightly over the 3-row, but if you price it below consumers find the value and it will sell. People don't need a 3-row always, as we clearly see, but if given the choice to save money and get a free 3-row they would rather take that.

Manufacturer incentives are almost ALWAYS based on dealer inventory, the cars that sit and don't sell are the ones that get the money. If dealers have inventory sitting, they don't buy more inventory, and if they don't buy more inventory the cash flow stops for the manufacturer.

Final note, to be clear - sales performance is not an indicator of vehicle quality or performance, its an economics game typically (not always). Just because they are being incentivized a lot doesn't speak to the quality of the CX70 itself. I'm still considering one, although personally probably going to see what the new CX5 turns out to be like since its just a bit too big for my wife. I'm still in the camp of the CX70 should have been a little shorter than the 90.

Yep- how the CX-70 was greenlighted is beyond me. If they would have produced what was expected, a shorter 2-row version of the CX-90, they would have hit a home run IMHO.
It was cheaper (from a development standpoint) just to pull the rear seat out and re calibrate the rear suspension. Remember, Mazda is still a relatively small company with limited resources.

Good to hear deals on the CX-70 are out there. No interest in another 3 row and would rather have that space for cargo

YEP ! I would have bought that instead the CX 5 Signature I ended up with . although I am very happy with it, having that inline 6 turbo in a shorter / lighter version of the 90 would have been
a hit ....I still hope they get it right, I have another car to replace in a few years ...:)

A 2 row CX-90, sure, but calling it a CX-70 was a bonehead move. Customers were expecting a truly different model, like the CX-60/80

Bought a NA 2025 CX-5 Premium Plus in MA. $37,700 OTD. The car was loaded with about 1K of add-ons pushing MSRP to over $38K, but did not mind it at this price.

Note that MSRP of 2025 PP is lower than 24, so the price may appear low in comparison to a 2024.

First 2 oil changes free after this dealer (dealer said it was a dealer exclusive not Mazda special). Lifetime free car washes at the dealer's touchless wash, but too bad, the dealership is quite far from my house.

New to Mazda after Hyundai, Toyota & Chrysler.

I thought that cars were genrally less expensive in the USA compared to here in Australia. Seems not always.

For comparison, in August this year I bought my CX5 Akera G25 in Soul Crystal Metallic which is the very top of the line model here, not even any options packs available. The only options you can add for extra $ are black 19” wheels, or Mazda accessories. The 2.5T Akera is a couple thousand extra.

I did my deal through a broker service so got fleet price, and walked out the door paying Au$49,000, including registration, compulsory third party insurance, tax, OEM carpet mats, and a full tank. Which is around US$32,800.

Way cheaper than a Signature model here (which I would assume the Akera is equivalent to). Truecar is a website used in the US to see what a particular car is selling for in your area. A '24 Signature has an MSRP of ~42k and is selling for 40,500 right now.

You said OTD which includes fees and taxes. What was the price of the car before the fees were added? This would be a lot more helpful to folks in other places as fees vary widely from state to state.
