Gertrude drinks gas, about a gallon per hour, maybe more. So I'm trying to do what I can to increase the efficiency, so I picked up a cheap used MSD 6 ignition box and Blaster 2 coil.

Got it hooked up today and re-gapped the plugs from .025" to .040. It runs AMAZING like that!

It takes a nut to put a racing ignition on a 64 year old tractor, but I guess that's me!

What is the result of such an upgrade for a 1958 tractor? I've never owned such old machinery. The only thing so old I had was a 1974 retro motorcycle, and even that consumed too much gas. I tried to fix that problem, but I left that motorcycle alone. It deserves to consume so much. It's retro. But the tractors would ruin me. I use tractors too often for tamping down lawns or plowing the vegetable garden. I don't like noisy and farting tractors, so I bought this compact thing from https://www.machinerydealer.co.uk. A compact tractor is my dream because it doesn't make noise, saves me money, and does everything I need. I suggest buying one of these. Your tractor needs to retire, man.

New compact tractors are $15,000 to start. I ain't got that kind of money. And my old Ford has 39 horsepower at the PTO, and does absolutely everything I could possibly ask of her. Gertrude is awesome!
