I was wondering if anyone has had this happen or has any idea what causes this. I have tried conventional methods to clean, to no avail. Thanks.

Thanks, I hope so. After doing a little reading up on the horrors of touch-free car washes, I am kind of expecting the worst, though.

While the above item might work well, I don't think it will actually 'restore' anything, even it's own advertising says "Makes non-painted exterior trim and plastic look like new with extended durability that lasts for weeks" - hence it's still just (only weeks?) a temporary refinishing product.

Maybe a gentle polish like Meguiar's ultimate polish?

As Hal2 stated, I've found that this wax will remove stuff like that. I had used a different wax previously and it left marks on some of the vehicle's plastic trim. This wax removed the marks and left a nice fininsh.

YMMV

I was actually thinking one of these. Keep in mind, start with the more gentle polish before trying the compound. Actually though, I was thinking for the piano black, which I don't think your 2017 has, so yes, maybe the aforementioned wax. But if it is surface cleanable then the polish might still help, 'dunno

Thanks for all of the replies. It appears that a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser did the trick...Those things are amazing! I'm going to follow it up with some shine/protectant.
