Just wanted to make a post to thank everyone who has contributed to this area of the forum for sharing their knowledge and making my search for a Protege5 a bit easier. I found this 2002 about an hour away from home so it was nice to know what to look for before getting there. I've only had it a week but I'm really starting to like it. It's not going to win any drag races, but it's easily as nible as anything I've owned before. Plans include a tuneup, taking care of all the dents/dings/paint chips, mild suspension upgrades (Tokico Blues, Eibach Pro springs, Moog endlinks, and possibly bigger sway bars), 17 or 18" wheels/tires and keeping the stock wheels with the nearly new winter tires that came on it, and some sort of catback exhaust. I may remove the door bumpers, plastidip the "diffuser", and add a front lip...but still undecided on all of that.
