14" wheels on a P%

I recall that SOME 14s might not fit. Issue rubbing brake. So you may wanna test fit one, esp. front. first.

Hey all,

Will 14" wheels fit around the brakes on the Protege 5?

35 offset

Thanks
J

You should be fine with that offset. I'm running 1993 Eclipse steelies that are 14x5.5 +35 with 185/70 tires and have no issues, the caliper is close though. What size tire are you looking to run? 185/65 is suggested but 185/70 will fit both stock height and lowered on Tokico Blues and Tein S-techs.

Here's a few shots of mine and reut1's set-up.

That doesn't look bad at all. I like the idea of running smaller wheels because the tires are cheaper. Obviously you give up something on handling but if you are only using the car to trudge around town it wouldn't make a difference. I bet the ride is better with the meatier tires.

my 14" steelies. with a 40 offset. bought these new and they were for an mx6 supposedly. i run a 6mm spacer up front as they didn't clear the front caliper, rears were fine. so most 35mm offset steelies should probably work.

i run a 185/65 tire and its much more comfortable than 16" wheels. the handling suffers of course but its to be expected for skinny soft winter tires.
