After doing more research the leak is moisture, refrigerant and compressor oil coming from the connection meeting the A/C Receiver Drier...
I wasn't sure exactly what it was and I was hoping it was not A/C related because of the tricky task of evacuating and recharging the A/C system. : (
Here's what it does:
"The process of maintaining the proper ventilation inside your car is the primary responsibility of the air conditioning system. One of the essential parts of your car's air conditioning system is the AC receiver drier. Typically located between the evaporator and the condenser, this component acts as a system drier. After the AC condenser releases the refrigerant, it immediately goes to the AC receiver drier wherein the liquid and gas are separated and the dirt and moisture are removed. So, this vehicle component simply performs three basic functions. The first one is to trap, remove, and hold moisture. The second one is to filter particles and debris. And the last one is to act as a reservoir for the refrigerant and compressor oil. To perform this special vital task, the AC receiver features a desiccant material made of silica gel that acts as a great drying agent. Moreover, they are also equipped with filter screens to help trap debris." APW
Does anyone have experience with replacing this part?
