I wasted a whole day running around trying to find a compression tool to retract the rear caliper pistons on a friends 2006 Mazda3. What a PITA, trying to find one with pins on 3/4" center. Finally managed to persuade a Canadian Tire store to loan us a kit to get the job done. Afterward, I started rounding up a few scrap materials I had laying around in the shop and managed to put something together for a total cash outlay of $1.69 that works like a charm. I used a 6 1/2" length of 3/8" threaded rod, three nuts, a 1" to 3/4" reducing coupling, and some 3/16" steel plate. I used a 3/16" drill bit to fabricate the pins which are located on 3/4" center. Doesn't have to be as fancy as mine, I have a problem knowing when to stop. Hope my photo might be able to help others.
