So I threw this up on another fourm Im on, and it got pretty decent reception. Figured I would throw it up here and see what you all thought.

A quick rundown of my background. I work at a custom machine shop where I have access to a full machine shop as well as some cheap/free materials.

I have the mod bug like crazy, but have to restrain myself due to car payment/getting married in 6 months/ closing on a house at the end of this month/ and student loans.

I decided to DIY myself some items. Attached are the pics of my heavy shift knob. Its a plain 1018 steel, black chromed out with engraved pattern then hand painted. Got the material for free and did all the work myself. So total cost to me was $0, just time, which I have a fair bit of.

I guess let me know what you guys think. (sorry for the bad cell phone pics)

1/16 ballend mill, and the best part,... a damn steady hand with the stamps.

free hand? or did you wisely cheat and clamp a piece of guide stock to the vise?
