Who has the MZ5 Sport with Popular Appearance Package

Mazda 5 Sport
I have a white Mazda5 Sport with the Popular Appearance Package (Spoler, Side Sills, CD Changer). I think that is a great upgrade if you did not care for a sunroof, heated seats, HID lights etc. It makes the car look much sharper. Also, when I look around the web for used Mazda5 there is not a lot of them with that package. Usually they are just plain and ugly.

I've got the PEP on my '06.

I'm a big fan as well, it looks nicer to me.
I would have taken the sunroof, HID, etc, but wasn't willing to pay more for them. As it turns out, when I was shopping in late '08 used, this one was the least expensive within 250 miles, even less than any without the sills.

I've got the PEP package as well on my 08 5AT. While it wasn't available/advertised on the website officially, Mazda did make some 2008 5MT PEP Sport models, as I drove one before buying mine.

That's b/c it was probably a dealer installed option (overpriced) and is more akin to aftermarket upgrade. Granted the material is better and parts fit exactly. You can get leather seat too. I know b/c I asked dealer when I was shopping for one :) This is not the same as being a factory option.

Just to confirm, can you post a pic of your rear spoiler? I think the aftermarket/optional spoiler is slightly different (separate piece) than the one that comes the factory option (once piece with the rear hatch).

I have a 2007 with the PEP. It has all the fixings, including manual transmission. Sun roof, side skirts, rear spoiler, and fog lights. Came with the 6-CD changer too, but that came right out and I stuck a CarPC into it instead, wired to an amp.

My rear spoiler.

This is what mine looks like.

Looks good! White is my favorite color and would love my 5 to be in white but alas '08+ manuals are stuck with 3 of the worst color choices (to me). Actually, Galaxy gray is ok.

Can someone with a 2008+ manual and factory (dealer) PEP package post a pic? I'd like to see if the rear spoiler is the same as the one Heat posted. I was on a spolier hunt but came to realize there are little to no options out there for Sport owners...

Salvage yard and paint booth?
Yes and Yes! I've been thinking just that. Go to a you pull it junk yard to see what I can find. I've been thinking and have seem some older RVs/SUVs/Wagons/Minivans have what I'm looking for -simple, flat, yet long-ish rear spoiler (think Bayson R spoiler). Short ones are not long enough :p

I had it in my 06 and have it in my 08. Yes, big difference (to me). My 06 also had the fogs :(

+1 but too bad Mazda did not offer it to manual owenrs (for '08+). (chair)

With some weird exceptions, I still do not know why, but can't complain :)

I've seen a couple of 2012's and yes, they look different as well (Sport vs Touring). No more PEP available I believe though

Differences were posted some time ago (somewhere :(). Factory PEP has the spoiler integrated with the brake light and mist nozzle. The dealer one does not, it gets installed over those. I guess installing the factory one after it leaves the assembly line gets too complicated.

also for side skirts, the frame piece underneath doesn't have the same mounting locations for the snap-in plastic holders... so you can't take sills off an existing car. The dealer add-on is actually a different piece to be able to accommodate different mounting. (06-10)

I meant find a 5 Touring or GT that took one in the nose or had a T-Bone and take the entire rear hatch. Then, viola! factory spoiler.

Not gonna happen. Trying to find a wreck Mazda5, especially one that is reasonably close (not popular in the Tri-state) and same color, is like trying to spot the Yeti; not exaclty a Civic. Also, the cost of the new-used hatch (what would I do with mine?), and repaint (most likely) will cost at least an arm and two toes. I’m better off getting the Bayson R spoiler (I REALLY like that) and do some grinding and bondo work to make a fit.
