Mazda Cx-9 safety features saved my wife

my wife was in our 2010 GT cx-9, going through an intersection at 45 mph, when she was t-boned on the driver side door by a 2006 silverado with a lift kit who ran the red light.

the safety features are 100% of the reason she survived without any worse injuries. she did have a few broken ribs, a lacerated liver, and a few stiches, etc, but she is going to be 100% ok.

anyway, I thought I would share some pictures - great car. thank you mazda

I am glad that your wife is A-OK now.
CX9 is very safe among it peers.

You should send a letter with those pictures to corporate Mazda.
I am sure they will be proud of the vehicles they are selling....

Johnups, glad to hear your wife is ok, that is great, she is really blessed. Noticed the "bio" on the vehicle indicating she had some serious injuries. Did the silverado try to "beat the light" or just wasn't paying attention? Here in Kentucky, our rates doubled when we moved from Virginia because in Kentucky, people will actually cross through the red light, intentionally, after it turns red, even if they don't have a clear view of cross traffic, and they just don't care. I have witnessed an accident exactly like your wife's here as well, and had to act as the "first responder". I am an insurance adjuster, and see stuff like this all the time come through the claims department, and I drive out and inspect cars and total them or facilitate the repair at the body shop. If you need any help/advice on settling your auto or injury claim, just let me know. I have alot of information that may be useful to you.

yeah, she was very banged up, lots of blood, etc, but nothing long term/serious. seeing her in the trauma center after I got to the hospital is something I will never forget. We were out buying a new car seat today, so she is on the road to recovery.

the guy just flat ran the light. he wasn't beating it or anything - just flat not paying attention. the prevailing thought is he was texting, because the lady following him said the light was red, been red, and would stay red until someone stopped at it.

about first responder (funny you say that) - the guy that hit us was actually an off duty fireman. and off duty fireman driving a jacked up truck, running red lights, speeding, and carrying the minimum amount of insurance.

We should be covered with insurance, etc. I do have a lawyer, and he is very good.

johnups, glad your wife is going to be ok. The CX-9 did it's job and I'm glad that she did not suffer worse injuries. I've been in a few close calls like this before so I always make an attempt to look both ways to see if there's any cars that might be speeding through. Once even as a pedestrain with my wife and stroller and the young couple coming out of starbucks just sped through the red light almost hitting a car that was waiting to do a left turn after we crossed. Good thing we had not yet crossed over to that side of the road. That was a very close call.

Oh my word...Goodness me that is a serious accident.

So glad that you wife is ok, I wish her a speedy recovery.

Make sure to get that red light runner prosecuted...

Unfortunately, that will never happen. His minimal rates for his "minimum state coverage" policy will go up,
but that's about the extent of it.

johnups insurance company will agree to policy limits from the redlight runner, and stroke a check for the rest. Its just how it works.
I've never seen a claim go to litigation over minimum liability coverage on a 2 car accident, in the thousands upon thousands of claims I've seen.

can you tell your wife for me that i'm rooting for her speedy recovery and my family is praying for her.i was in a head on collison and the other car passenger die from this result, her boyfriend was drag racing and lost control and came straight at me. this was 4 yrs ago, but it still haunt me to this day.

this is 100% correct. the only thing that will keep him on the hook for his major mistake is if he owns a house and has an umbrella policy, or if he lives at home and his parent do....but that is unlikely. my insurance company is on the hook for the rest....and while I had more insurance than him - i should have had more. I have to shop around after all this is over.

as such, you would think he'd be more responsible or at least more careful. Give thanks that your wife survived this awful accident and will recover. I wish you and your family the best.
