Mazda Factory Turbo for MP3

Ok today when I was getting my car door fixed they said that for the MP3's mazda will for sure have a turbo kit that will keep your factory warrenty. They said they dont have the specs but its a ball bearing turbo from garette. so yea. Its the same one as the Mazdaspeed. I talked to the manager/ owner so I think he's telling the truth. Thats all. Oh and at the performance shop I saw a bad ass WRX with like fast & furious style nos set up in his trunk with a huge turbo. It was cool

TURBO KIT

Kick ass I will call my dealer tomorrow to see if they are going to carry them thanks for the info.

Well the dealer said that it should be out by march which is far away still. But I'm gonna get it. He said the turbo kit is part of the mazdaspeed parts

im not an admin, but seems this still should be in the "rumors" section. hmm "rumors>performance".....

I moved it to performance for the simple fact that someone that is new and wants info on a turbo kit is gonna go to performance or forced induction, not rumors. This isn't like "I heard Mazda is gonna make an MP3 with a rotary engine" There is a very good chance this is true, so performance it is.

i know u said the turbo is for the mp3 but do you think it would be for the P5 as well? If you get a chance, ask the dealer, thanks.

The cars are virtually identical in engine operation.

well. if it's the same turbo kit on the new 03 mp3, isn't that just pushing like 30 extra ponies? i know that waranty is an issue but if u are gonna raise the boost eventually u'll have rebuild the internals, which you can kiss ur waranty good bye either way.. and knowing that it's from mazdaspeed and under factory waranty, this turbo wont' be cheap... so i say it's better to just go with the aftermarket ones.. just my $.02

I agree. I bet you they come out with a Price like $3000+
Let's hope mazda goes with higher quantities not higher prices.

Putting in new internals isn't necessary. It all depends on how much power you are wanting. If you only want about 190 to 230 at the wheels, here are some simple mods you can do to attain this goal. First, the stock timing will be too advanced for that kind of boost. Put in a J&S Safeguard or some other type of timing control that can retard timing relative to boost. Second, more fuel, a simple FMU or an extra injector controler. Third, a better and bigger intercooler, preferably a front mount. Fourth, obviously a boost controler that will allow you to increase the boost level. That is all you need to take it to about 10 to 12psi which should get you around 200 to 220hp. The J&S is the best bang for your buck, it is $525, it controls timing relative to boost, and if for some reason something catastrophic happens, it will greatly retard the timing if it hears pinging.
