Here's some pics of a mazda 3 map lights i got from a local junkyard, painted in black and replaced the bulbs for Led.
The visors are also from a mazda 3 that i ordered from ebay, painted with Vinyl and fabric color in black.
The roof liner is also painted with vinyl and fabric(duplicolor ,charcoal gray).

The wire harness of the Mazda 3 is different from the 00,but i stripped the wires in my car and hooked the M3 wires . Moved the M3 wires towars the front,as you can see in the following pics.

The visors fit just ok,the shape and dimention is not the same as the 2000 Protege, but it works.

I will have pics of the interior with the visors installed soon.

interesting. exactly what did you do with the wiring harness cuz im a little confused right now by either your wording, me being tired, or both

lol,i bet it's me.
The harness that comes with the mazda 3 overhead unit has 3 wires, the one in my car has only 2,a black wire is the extra one on the M3.
What i did is strip the wire cover in my car and strip the ends of the M3 unit, wrapped the m3 wires with the car ones.
I directed the M3 wires towards the front of the vehicle and left the existing dome lights unit as it is.
I hope i can be of help to you man, otherwise i can try to take more pics of what i did.
One more thing, the black ground cable, i stripped the tip of it and use a small screw and added to the metal frame which happen to have a hole and fits perfect.
Click on the pics and zoom in so you can see it.

what about the other end of the mazda 3 harness? did you splice it into the protege one?

The one with the plug connector obviously to the M3 unit, the other end i spliced and wrapped around the wires of my car.

thanks i think i might do this now. i dont like how we our car didnt come with one. dont forget to post pics.

Yep,is annoying that our cars did not bring few features like map lights, glove box light and trunk lid liner, and more aftermarket options in terms of body kits.

i dont really care about trunk lid liners i personally have the interior of my trunk stripped out aside from the peice that covers the latch because at one point when i did have it off the trunk opened cause something hit it.
i would have liked it if our cars came with a light under the hood.
and also im surprised no one else is chiming in cause this is an awesome upgrade

yeah

iukekini now that you have a new engine i think you need this i hear it will add 50hp to the crank
okay now seriously what is your next project?

Awesome job man! I will be doing pretty much the same thing as you soon. The headliner has gone to hell in my 2000 so I'm going to be replacing it as well as the CRAP overhead light.

hahaha 50hp ballin' so doing it.

Next project, take the next step in my life the slotege is set for now, i want boost but want to save money and im happy with the power I have now, hopefully get a better job, or a significant raise next year from current job, and a place of my own. Then buy an FD in Montego Blue mmmmmm...Hopes and dreams, changes month to month really, but 30,900/year just isnt cutting it, so time to move on to bigger and better.

Thanks, and a question about ur mod here, did you make it so the map lights come on with the door too?

Actually,they dont.
I think that is because i have the ground wire of the M3 unit grounded to the front metal bar and not the middle section where the dome light unit is located.
I am considering re-route some of the ground wire and grounded to the middle metal bar section, that in fact is the grounding field,
When i had the liner out and i was trying the connections to test if the M3 unit was working,i had the Black ground wire conected to the metal bar of the middle section, and it lighted up when i opened the door.
when i installed the m3 unit,i redirected that black wire to the front, and that changed the whole story, now they light up but i have to press the button or leave the switch in ON position.
So my theory is if i extend the black cable from the front and have it grounded in both bars(front and middle),they will work as they should.
Otherwise it could burn the entire car lol!!!(crazy)
