Oh Oh do tell how you accomplished this, as I am surprised this is not included in my 2009 Touring model.

I acquired the Homelink module bytaking it out of a Ford Windstar sun visor at the local salvage yard.

I removed the module and wiring clip from the visor. I tested it with a 12v lighter battery to make sure it worked, and ID + and -.
There are 3 contacts. + is closest to the side of the module, - is closest to the center. The middle contact is not used.

I cut a hole in the headliner using the rubber button insert as a guide. The material is too thick for the two pieces to snap together, so I carefully crushed the foam where the module sits with a small backer block and flat face hammer. I made sure everything was clean to keep from getting the headliner dirty.

The connector was in the way, so I soldered the wires right to the circuit board. Then I put a loop terminal on the ground wire and tek screwed it to the car structure to the side of the Console opening.
I tapped the Orange/Brown wire to the Dome Lights for power, but will be running a new wire to the fuse box. (The dome circuit doesn't provide enough power to operate the opener when the dome lights are on)

Anyone considering this, if you have more options remove the console first and verify there is room. I don't know if the moonroof has anything there or not.

Almost as hard as putting a sunroof in one of my trucks.

Clean hands and tools, and slow and careful are the keys. A very sharp knife helps, too.

I'd suggest making a template first. Then once that's perfect, cut the hole.

Anyone with the new headliner will have to see how they are made. I don't know if they are the same material underneath as the flocked type. If they are fiberboard, this won't work without modifying the Homelink module.

I'm still looking for a paint that better matches the interior, so if anyone has found one, let the forum know. It's gray, but with a hint of tan. The one I used is the right tone, but doesn't have that tan tint to it.
