i want 2 convert this on my 2001 lx 2.0... someone on this site is selling the rear disc and spindles.. what else would i need for the rear .. and while im hear i need 2 convert the front 2 a 5 lug... what about that>>? im doing this mainly because in the future i plan on doing the big brake kit up front and they only make it for the ES... btw the rear disc are from a pro5

yes i would be able to purchase both rear discs and spindles from a pro 5 for $100 plus shipping.... I was just wondering what other parts I would need to make the rear disc conversion complete (im guessing calipers, brake lines, etc.) and if the pro 5 rear discs will fit on my 2001 lx 2.0... i also plan on doing a 5 lug conversion to the front end... but i once i have all pieces I will do it all at once... if anybody has any info i would appreciate it.. thanks

hey Maz2001MP

I happen to have the whole set that you need for the rear conversion. I have the spindles, calipers with brake pads and disc brakes for the front and back from a ES 2001 protege not a Prote-5 so you know it will fit. it had 11k when i rmoved them so they are practically new. I even have the 4 struts with 11k miles also if you need them. they are tokikos in black(this are the originals for the proteges but are not the blue ones from the MP3)

i can sell you the complete rear set with hoses and all for $120 plus shipping and if you would also like the front ones then i can do a nice package for $180. This would include calipers with brake pads, disc brakes, hoses, spindles and even the Chrome lug nuts :p. let me know
P.S the rear disc brakes are from a 2001 MP3 which are a bit thicker and better than the regular proteges.also i have the brake booster with the pump if you need it.
Best luck

Re: hey Maz2001MP

uhh no... the mp3 brakes are EXACTLY the same as the ES and P5's not thicker, not grabbier... EXACTLY the same

and upgrading the brake booster and master cylinder as well as using the correct proportioning valve IS needed

OWN YOURSELF

You mean to tell me that you have never had problems before at the dealer where even with the Mazda parts software they cannot either find you the right part or they just cross over it to the next close thing > In the MP3 case is the Protege ES Ofcourse.

I know this cause at the dealer they tell me that the MP3 has the same rack and pinion as the ES(NOT!) and also they tell me that the MP3 badges can"t be obtain and things of that nature. Just cause you have the software it does not make you been correct.

I gave the website of that guy cause he is one of the few that still has the specs from the 2001 MP3. He had them posted in that same year and he did not made a typo mistake cause he copy the whole thing from the Mazda Website and ofcourse every magazine that has published this specs also wrotte the same thing so hummm, somebody here must be mistaken, i wonder who???
Mazda has some parts that they cannot get for the MP3 only that this they will not say out loud, i know believe me i've been there.
so they just kinda get you the same one for both cars. or sometimes they just give you an MP3 part for your ES like in the case you stated at the pictures. If you read carefully you will see where it reads ( SPORT SUSP). And you and I know that only the MP3 has that suspension. I agree that the parts software showed the same part number but manufactors do that all the time to save money in just standarding some parts since they both fit the same car, BUT that does not mean that the cars didn't come with different specs from the factory line. specially if they stated in the spec spread sheet of each car.
Any how this is a Mazda manufactor problem not mine, all i know is that they (MAZDA) say so and i believe them more than you THE MAN so you can believe your parts outdated software or the spec sheet, either way it won't change or do anything for me Cause I Got BREMBO rotors and i know you are not gonna question those since we both know that they are much better.

Respectfully
GREEN!

TheMAN is absolutely correct. All of the brake parts are IDENTICAL on the MP3, P5, and ES from 2001+. There is no way in hell that a non-vented rotor is going to be 0.9" thick. That would be plain stupid.

Here's an example. The rear rotors on my 3/4 ton pickup truck are 1.18 inches thick and 13.9 inches in diameter. There is no way that a Protege MP3 has 0.9 inch rear rotors.
