2003 Mazdapeed Protege
Hey Guys,

I bought my MSP last Thursday (5/13/10) and joined this forum soon there after. Unfortunately (kinda), I left for vacation on Friday night, so the car was left at home to be driven by my brother (my avatar is him "taking care of it" in his speedo ha).

The car is an 03 Black Mica with 68k on the clock. The car is bone stock, but needs some cosmetic love and upgrades to some stock components.

The car is scheduled to go to my mechanic tomorrow for an inspection and I wanted to be sure he looked at some MSP specific problem areas. The car does have the infamous "clunk", but I was wondering if you seasoned veterans could give me some other suggestions. I really appreciate any help given. Thanks in advance and I look forward to what is sure to be an interesting relationship with my new car and this forum ha

If you plan on sticking with a side mount replace the bad factory plastic pipes with hard pipes. They tend to crack. Also get a boost gauge! I have no idea why mazda never installed a boost gauge and decided to use ******* plastic for boost tubes... I think PVC pipe would be better then what mazda used.

Edit: Please no pics of your brother in his speedo... i dont want to see that others might but I don't lol

Please check out the Ohio section of the forum and check out Superfly Sunday's as well. There is a huge group of local Mazda owners that show up. Welcome aboard, nice to have another Ohio MSP owner on board!

Thanks for the recommendations and welcomes guys. I will be sure to throw on a boost gauge, if for nothing else to be sure it still at the stock psi.

I'll be sure to come out to Superfly as well, I literally live 4 minutes from downtown so I'll definitely be sure to be there!

Welcome to the site dude! post up pics if you get time! I hope to see you active ;P

But Enjoy your stay.

I will absolutely post some pictures as soon as I got home. I will be as active as possible, from what I've seen there is tons of good info on here.

Side note. Is the MSP hood the same as a standard Protege?

yes, the hood is the same..also, along with what Stealth said, you should also think about getting an AEM UEGO depending on how much you plan on modding.

Good deal, I need a hood, but wasn't positive if i could snag one from another normal protege. The car will be my daily driver, so I don't anticipate doing any hardcore modifications in regards to engine performance, but a wideband is defiantly on the list of modifications. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the welcome! I will be sure to hit you up when I need help, I am absolutely positive I'll be needing it some time or another. I will be sure to get some pics up as soon as I get home. A CF hood is definitely an option, as long as the funds are available :)

Welcome! We'll see ya at SuperFly. I'll have the Yellow MSP with the Sunroof parked in the "Yellow Zone" lol.(idhitit)

Marlon, missed you last Sunday.

Superfly will be a must stop this season. A buddy of mine drives a Mazda3 and seems pretty involved in the Mazda scene around here, his name is Trevor. Do any of you NE Ohio guys know him?

When you show up there will be 4 MSPs at Superfly this year. I also recently bought my msp.

Here are a few cell phone pics of the car... more to come.
