MSCAI as SRI = LTFT better

I run my MSCAI as a SRI for the wet rainy season and as a CAI the rest of the time. I prefer the CAI set up, mostly because I get cooler IAT's and BAT's. As far as performance not much difference in day to day driving....

ok i have mine at the sri state cause the rubber screw piece that holds the 2nd intake pipe broke cause of stupid rust so i was wondering was that the piece that you guys put that unit that says caution hot! cause i guess im screwed both ways

No trying to stir up anything, but the temps in the engine bay climb very rapidly, even on a cold engine at start up.

Attached is a photo I took with a remote sensor in the engine bay right next to the MAF sensor and a second sensor at the left fender well entrance to the MSCAI intake filter. After only three minutes of idle time, the engine bay sensor was reading 32 degrees higher than the one next to the CAI filter.

Draw your own conclusions. Cold air has more oxygen molecules than hot air.

I will agree that one of the benefits of the MSCAI and the AEM is that you can easily operate in either CAI or SRI modes. I just like having more cold air, have no issues with access for inspection/cleaning, and find that there is less intrusion of intake induction noise into the cabin when in CAI mode.

no stir up. its all about the raw data. butt dynos and guesses leave a lot unanwsered. good find. i think ill be putting the rest of the CAI back together with the difference of 30 degrees. my bat's arent but 10-20 degrees above atmosphere but with a 30 degree difference from the intake temp im sure it would benefit the turbo a great deal over the long run. thanks MSM, can always count on you for tech data.

Probably should have also attached the photo of the location of where I put the engine bay temp sensor. Here it is. It's the oval white object right next to the MAF sensor. It's sitting on top of one of the rubber mounds where the stock air box used to be. I figured that the intake on a SRI would be pretty close to that if I was in SRI mode, and I did not want it sitting top of something metallic as that might transmit heat to the sensor.

Not trying to make a big deal about this, but that engine bay heats up fast. If you leave it sit longer, like you might in the staging lanes at the dragstrip, underhood temps get pretty damn close to 130 degrees.
