So just got done installing my PG TIP. As I rip the old one out I wasn't even thinking about the boost solenoid hose, I just disconnected everything and took the ****** out. I noticed a hose coming off of the solenoid not attached to s*** and I was like 'WTF? I don't remember that being connected to the inlet'. Of course it dawns on me at this time that that hose was supposed to be plugged into the inlet (hence the supplied solenoid hose with the PG inlet). So I grab the POS stocker and look where the 'bad' plastic barb connector is, and the bad plastic barb connector is not there. There is a ******* bolt, the s*** was plugged up. I should add that I just got my turbo replaced maybe six months ago, so those stupid bastards were all up in there, on the inlet, solenoid, turbo, etc..... I mean who the **** doesn't a) notice that the inlet is plugged up (I did buy the car used so who knows, but there wasn't any sign of modding when I bought it) or b) those bastards plugged that s*** up themselves because they snapped the barb off. I'm not sure what would have been wrong with my car without that hose plugged in. It's been running fine, boost levels are at like 16-17 and I monitor the s*** out of things with my DH and the only thing that has been off is my LTFT's (+18% when boosting, +10 when cruising). Now i'm wondering if this was the culprit. Even my WGDC seemed in line (not sure if this would affect it anyways). So...... first I really need to know what damage could have been done, or what happens when that hose is not plugged in.... I'm kinda a noob still on tc's and not sure exactly how the solenoid works and what the purpose of that hose is exactly. Second, should I take that inlet up to Mazda and ram it down the svc tech's throat? I can come up with some BS excuse as to why it's off. Thanks for any input, and if you haven't changed you TIP CHECK YOURS!!!

These are the best cell phone pics I could get. One I snapped when I seen the loose hose and the other two are of the inlet, where the hose should plug into

EDIT: reread your post and noticed it is the barb on the intake that broke, not off the solenoid. Repair idea still holds valid though . But you have a PG intake tube, right, so you should be able to connect the hose to it ?

The solenoid vents the bled air back into the intake so all the air measured by the MAF is accounted for..same idea as the BPV returning the bypassed air to the intake. I would imagine that the quantity of air lost from the WG bleed is pretty small but I guess could account for the discrepancy in the long term trim under boost after a while. If you think you want things to be "OEM", take off the boost solenoid so you can work on the broken off barb area...carefully drill out that area with some grease on the bit to catch the plastic debris or bore out by hand and insert a small diameter metal tube and epoxy in place so you have a place to join the rubber hose. Make the hole a size so the metal tube has to be pressed in snug (probably won't even need the epoxy).

Or, if you can't find a small bore tube, get a straight barbed hose connector and cut off one barbed side so there is a short length of smooth tube and fit in prepared hole as above. Pretty sure the Mazda dudes finished off the barb end particularly since this solenoid is in a hot zone and the hoses/plastic deteriorate. I had the hose coming from the WG to the solenoid harden up and split so I was overboosting suddenly. Finally, after checking out this area, found the problem since the crack in the hose was barely discernible with a casual glance.

Thanks. Yeah, with the PG the hose is hooked up to the solenoid now and the inlet; my boost levels are the same, LTFT's are the same, I am just boosting a lot easier when cruising (probably from the inlet). I just feel like mazda should have some ressponsibility in replacing that stock inlet as they didn't say s*** about it when they swapped turbos.... Whether or not it was like that when I brought it to them. I did some reading and realize it isn't a huge deal, it just pissed me off knowing that they know that that tube was not connected and didn't say s*** or do anything about it. I'm pretty damn sure that the car was never modded from a lot of signs i've noticed, but oh well. I guess if I swap back out i'll fix it myself. Just wanted some input on how damaging it could've been to the car running like that for so long (thanks for the input by the way). Just truly debating whether or not to take that piece to the dealer and see if they can replace it. I guess I shouldn't expect much more from those bastards though..... It just was astounding knowing that they were in there and knew about the problem. I mean, if I had warranty issue they could use that against me, when it was there negligence (and mine :) ) that caused it. Thanks for the tips on fixing it.

Wouldn't be the first time a Mazda tech has used a bolt to plug a vacuum hose. When I had my FD in the shop for some engine work (BIG ass mistake) I found 3 or 4 vacuum hoses plugged.
