I'm trying to install a Kenwood kvt-815 DVD head unit. normally a HU is easy to install, just get an adapter or splice a bunch of wires. but this kenwood unit has some sort of "bus" or w/e you would call it that I've never seen before. none of my friends have seen it either and apparently there are several shops that have no idea what to do with it. anyways, i've got some pics. if anyone has a deck with this or knows anything about it let me know. I couldn't find any adapters or anything online.

im not very technical when it comes to this type of stuff but if i had to guess it was a adapter for either a ipod control unit or xm unit or possibly a cd changer maybe .

I'm not 100% positive.. but I recently installed a flip out dvd player in my saturn vue before I traded it in.. I had the same two plugs.. one was for idk what lol the orange one and the other was a squar one connected to the "Computer" or "NAVIBUS/BLUETOOTH" but your missing your main wire harness. where is it? lol I see where it plugs into the H/U in the one pic.

yeah this was from my dads bwm 335i that got smashhhed about 2 years ago, i found it in the garage, clearly couldn't get the receiver out and not all the wires, the car is scrapt and a new reviver is like 300....im going to be getting a new deck most likely today though, i'll keep you guys posted

I just installed the P8000BT into my P5 yesterday. Metra makes a double din kit that works (Metra 99-7505). It's not great but there aren't many options. You can order it from Crutchfield or Amazon. The only problem I had was that I had to make a custom bracket to support the back of the HU.

you think you can pm me with some pics of how you did it or just post them here, would be greatly appreciated, also you think its a good idea if i go to work on a single din bracket and try to make it fit a double? or would that be a bad idea?

btw how much did you pay for it? i got a crazy deal of craigslist for 80, might be hot but i hope not

Unfortunately I should have taken pictures of the bracket before I did the install. I'll sketch something up that shows what I did and post here later.

As far as the din/double double, just break down and order the metra kit. It's not well made but does provide a nice snug fit and dresses up the look with the bezel. I'll take pictures of that too and post them.

The Scosche site said that kit MA1541B would fit. It looks much better than the Metra and fits the hu well but DOES NOT fit the P5 without modifying the hard plastic behind the console. I didn't want to do that. I may look at modifying bezel itself (since I have it now) to see if I can get it to fit.

so i picked up a double din bracket and installed it...my :( face is now a :)....thanks for the help everyone! love this forum

yeah i love it, next mod is dome light, going to get a blue led to match it at night, anyone have any idea where i can find the size of our dome light?

What dash kit did you end up using?

the metra one, i just used a screw in the back for it to stay in and it worked well, found one for 25 at a parts store near my house so thought ah what the hell i'll give it a try, pretty happy with it all around?

Hey your deck looks awesome! I think the double din ones tend to be really nice with their big controls and displays.
