If by "temporarily automatic" means you plan is to convert it to manual, you would be MUCH BETTER off selling your car and buying another before you put any money into it. The differences of an auto to a manual are a lot more complex than you think, its more than just changing the transmission. I speak from experience. I needed a complete donor car to get through my swap. I had put too much time and money into my car to sell and re buy, I also got lucky finding the donor car, but believe me, never again will I do it to another car. If you want a manual, get one in the first place, period.
No young sir its not as hard as you think... I did a manny swap on my protege. Look I'm just disappointed that so many of you are crackin' jokes rather than helping. I know that this shouldnt be as difficult as it is. I expected to get an easy answer from Madza. Only reason why I care to know whether I have a 2.0 or 2.3 is cause I wanna boost it. I wanted to buy a cheap 3 cause I'm a big Mazda fan. This car cost me 9,900 and it only had 30k miles so I like the fact that I now have a Protege and a 3. With a vin# you can find out which model it is by goin to the dealer and they were of no true help, so I'm askin' y'all for help, not insults. P.S.- I couldnt find a Manny at the price I was willing to pay. I got what I wanted which is just the platform of a Mazda 3 to work from.
