Steelies for winter?

Anyone know where to look for used steel wheels for winter? As a matter of fact, anyone know what car an interchangable wheel would come from? I don't know where to look for a 5 lug wheel for these....

Also, anyone run a Dunlop W.Drive? From what I have read they are more than sufficient in the bad weather and don't wear too bad in the hot, dry weather. Don't neccesarily know when the next set off tires may come, but need something for the snow for sure, and don't want to sacrifice too much cornering and handling. (I am still on the Racing Harts)

i would just try and find a set off an ES or LX.

I thought they had 4 lug on ex ,exc. But for wheels any 5x100 lug wheels will work as long as the offset wont rub when running a full size tire. Go for a skinnyer wheel for winter helps get more rubber to the ground

Yeah, if I could I would go for something like a 16x6. Want a narrower tire so I can practice my rally skills in the snow!

Ummmmmm....5 bolt pattern for Mazda is 5x4.5 or 5x114.3 NOT 5x100.

IIRC the bolt pattern for the BMW is 5x100 but I'm not 100% on that....

be careful not to get ones off a lexus though. I did and the center was wrong. they fit but woobled like crazy. I made it about 25 feet before pulling them off. For Snow tires you want more rubber 15" steelie works great on my car, I would perfer a better rim though. I'm looking for a decent 15 in that actually has some style to it

i may be wrong but i thought i had read somewhere that subi and another mfg (cant remember who the other one was) had one bolt pattern for the 5 lug and every other car had the same bolt pattern. essentially there are only two bolt patterns for the 5 lug. not positive though.

no, you have 5x114.3, 5x100, 5x112, 5x108, 5x115, 5x130, 5x135... etc.

5x114.3 and 5x100 are the most common with japanese manufacturers. 5x112 is often used on german cars. but yea many 5 lug bolt patterns.

FWIW, e36 BMW rim bolt pattern is definitely 5x120, likely the hubcentric center is different too.

Here in california, we don't need snow tires, but are required to have chains in the mountains in the winter. Do chains work on the stock racing hearts without beating the crap out of the fenders? I was considering some chain-worthy shorter wheels for that contingency...

Heres my winter setup. Had to use 5mm spacers up front to clear calipers.

specs: 15" steelies w/ Firestone Winterforce

Many folks use Probe/Eclipse steelies.....plenty of those in junkyards too.
