Do you think this might work?

Ok, if I'm reading the reviews of the 2010 MS3 correctly, they seem to have an extra 500 rpm of usable powerband, ie the car doesn't hit a brick wall at ~5000 rpms, it can rev happily & dispense more zoom-zoom until 5500 rpm.

Question: since the engines in the 2007-2009 & the 2010 are the same, is it possible to upgrade an older model w/ the 2010 reflash and take advantage of the extra breathing space? Cause that would seem to be a no fuss, no muss way of obtaining more gpg [grins per gallon]

Whaddya think? (thought)

i am guessing part of that is the more efficient cooling of the intercooler via the hood scoop (the extra 500rpm)

ummm sir we the first gens rev to 5500 before falling off and certain mods have been said to help out as well. and its not like hitting a wall at all, just loses power.

I would say no, but try asking your dealer.
There may be no difference in the tune between cars as the 2010 also has different exhaust and a hood scoop that aid in the extra powerband. But not a lot is known at the moment. Best to just get a Cobb AP or Standback to fix the issue.

Get the Access port. There is most likely a small hardware change with the ecu that will prevent you from using a newer flash (mostly emissions control stuff).

chubbs is right, car doesnt fall on its face till 5500....see
