Boring out the Throttle Body - Benefits & Size

I'm interested in having my throttle body bored out. Wondering the details of what this offers, just better airflow? Also, here are the measurements of the Protege TB I saw that was done..

58mm - 61mm Inlet taper, 55mm - 57mm to Plate, 50% Shaft removed.

Wondering if those sizes seem about where they need to be.

you mean this one?

it's not worth punching out the stock one.... only the EDM one is worth messing with
the largest you can ever go is 2-3/8" unless you want to be cutting out the intake also

even if you want to do this, not many shops can do this because they'll screw it all up and you'll have major idle issues (ask anyone who had a MAM tb)... the reason is the same reason why you shouldn't touch the throttle stopper screw

you'll lose low end torque but you'll have a lot better top end... you'll get better throttle response also

Since I got a few of his parts when he sold everything, I was browsing the other day and noticed the throttle body. I contacted the same company that did his, and they charge $175 to do it, plus $10 for shipping it back.

That's good info to know about the MAM ones also, thank you.

Also wanted to add.. is there anything that will help with low-end torque? Seems like I have enough high-end, but it takes a while to get there.

Switch to a higher efficiency intercooler core (less pressure drop), ceramic coat the exhaust manifold, turbine housing, downpipe. Change the pistons back to 9.0, go back to the Protege manifold, and many other things. Most of all get it professionally tuned.
