Just bought a MSP, need some advice.

Hello everyone

I Just bought a 2003 MazdaSpeed Protege (MSP) like 3 months ago.
Im not really a car person. but i would like to do some mods on this car.
the previous owner never told me if he did any work on this car.
and i wanna know if i got any turbo, or intake or bov etc... It looks like everything is stock to me. but like I said im not a car person maybe im wrong.
can ya'll tell me got i got by looking at the pics?(rockon)

The MSP comes stock with a turbo. ;)

From what I can tell, the only 'mod' you have is what I'd call a homemade SRI. Looks like the previous owner pulled off the stock air box and put an aftermarket air filter right onto the stock piping.

Looks like the car was pretty well-maintained, though. Mileage?

97000. but i runs good.
 
I believe you. Mine was totaled with 92K miles on it, and despite all the engine mods I put it through, it still ran like a champ.

All depends on how well it was cared for throughout its life!
 
Agreed the only mod seen is a bootleg SRI. FYI this mod actually loses you HP since you sucking hot air from the engine bay and using the garbage stock intercooler or as we call it "interheater" If you were running a better intercooler that intake would be OK. It's just getting you to heat soak faster that's all.

jury is still out on this one... and probably always will be. i doubt there is significant gain, but I also doubt there is a loss. just makes the turkey (bpv sound) louder.
