Turbo Timer Help?...

I followed the very helpful How To...however i have some ?s...

I just installed my HKS Type 0 and it seems to be OK so far, it will do the countdown OK, the pbrake kill switch function works OK, but the engine does not stay running once I remove the key (just like w/o a TT)...in other words, no mater what mode I select (and I can select them all; RPM based timing Auto Mode even works), I cannot get the TT to actually activate...

Anyway, I thought I used the appropriate 3 wires on the IGN harness, maybe I used the wrong one? Somebody help!
Where to begin troubleshooting??

I believe its the wrong blue wire. If i remember right there are two blue wires. Try using the other blue one...

yeah your power wires ar good just your ig. signal is wrong.

You're not the only MSP owner to have this problem with the HKS TT 0. I bet you spliced the wires and then wrapped it in electrical tape? I have the same problem, maybe we need to solder the connection, instead of just using electrical tape.

nope, i used crimp connectors...maybe I will check all connections again...that is unless you guys have any more suggestions?...

The Protege uses 2 ignition wires, both should be blue, can't find my wiring diagram right now. You'll need to have 12 volts on both to keep the engine running without the key. I'm not exactly familiar with your TT, but my Greddy has an extra output wire just for this type of situation. You can use the acc lead from the TT to power up the 2nd ignition wire if your TT has it.

got it figured out...it needs a quick stab of the throttle before killing it (to keep the rpms up for a sec), then it stays running as it should. Thanks all for your help.

By doing this though the car turns off for a second then boots back up. Isn't this cutting off oil for that second and is really not doing the job of the turbo timer? This same thing happens to me and I have the HKS Type 0. I complained about it a long time ago but no one could figure it out. If any new help comes up let me know I'd like to hear.

There's something wrong with the hookup if you have to tap the gas before turning the key off. I would check to make sure that you have the right ignintion wire. I had the same problem when I only hooked up one wire. There are definitely 2 ignition wires in the MSP. One will keep the car running while the key is off throught the turbo timer. The other will do exactly what yours is doing. Try switching the wires and see what happens.

Agreed, I have this timer and lot of people I know do also. I never heard of this problem. I stress again make sure you have the right wires. The Red and Blue wire right next to each other, and then the black and white wire on the other side.

I am absolutely positive that I have the wires right. If I had a digi cam I could prove it. Jspec, you said that there are two ignition wires? So I should tap the blue wire from the timer and connect it to the other blue wire? That way both blue wires are tapped?

Both wires need to be connected seperately. Do not tap both wires together as they were designed to be seperate. Do you have an ACC out on your TT? If you do, just use that wire for the 2nd ignition wire. The primary ignition wire is blue. The secondary ignition is black with a red stripe. This is the wire that needs to be connected to the ACC or 2nd ignition wire from the TT.

If i remember correctly the green wire should be tapped into the blue wire. And the blue wire tapped into the black/white wire. Is that how you wired it. I could check on my car later.

The black/white wire is to keep the radio and interior accessories going when you take the key out. This doesn't do anything to keep the engine running.

I'll try switching the Acc wire to the black/red wire tomorrow and let you guys know how it went.
