you should be able to reuse the bump stops, and if there are no cracks in the rubber on the strut mount that should be good too. I would however replace the upper bearing, you don't, and it collapses it will be hard to steer.

Pat.

Use MSP (Mazdaspeed) stock bumpstops. I can dig up a P/N if needed.

Also, strut mounts are not necessarily going to require replacement. You'll see what I mean when you get things apart.

When I swapped mine out I just cut my original bump stops....

Buying MSP bumpstops is a better way to go though.

Pics, anyone?

And just because I'm a cool guy, here is a pic with a Tokico strut with the MSP bumpstop on it and some spring seats. Brand new Mazda dust boot is also shown.

All the rubber crap cost me nearly $200 brand new, which is what you should get too. Peace and be safe when doing the swap.

hey what is the part number ....im getting my hp kit in in a couple of days and what to have those ready

10$s i know what they are....go on onlinemazdaparts put in that number and can you let me know what one to get

I believe you want the one that says "w/ mps." I think it's the ones I ordered. But I don't see how those parts would be different and have the same part number anyways.

I have mazda protege5 2002 with 115K miles. I am the second owner and have this car for last 10k miles
I am about to upgrade my suspension to tokico blues + hks springs.
Since, I would be taking the wheels down, I intend to paint the calipers too.

What else should I keep in mind doing this? My car is all so-cal so I don't think rust would be an issue hopefully.

Anything, I should be careful about, replace things etc etc.

Thanks

DD

Hmmm nothing that I can think of. Just make sure that you reinstall the front strut mount so that the little white dot on the top of the strut mount is facing the same direction as before you took it off.

Have new end links ready. you will 'probably' have to cut them off. An electric impact wrench made this job waaaay easier for me. ;)

^^^ agreed on the electric impact wrench. The bolts on the endlinks come straight off. You don't have to hold the inside with the stupid ass allen wrench and then struggle with a wrench. I got my electric impact off ebay for cheap.
