Installed Double Din with Speedline kit

Just installed a Sony XAVW1 double din with the speedline kit.

If any of you guys were on the fence about getting the speed line kit, this might push you one way or another.

I did have to sand it a little on the bottom right (not visible) because the paint was a little thick.

wow i ****** that up, corrections

maybe you can help me.

im going to be installing my Pioneer Z1, with 4 infinity kappa door speakers, two amps 300/4 and 500/1. i want to keep my factory tweeters(i have the non blose system.) how can i retain the tweeters so they make my kappas a component system? or the amp will be too much power for the factory tweeters?

but what else do i need along with my amp kit. do i need ANL fuses and the whole 9 to install my system?

If its non Bose then you will need to find the type of speakers and see what the wattage rating is. Other then that, they should wire right into the amp via the stock harness. You may need to run more cabling to get it to reach.

I would just plan on replacing the factory tweeters. Especially with the 300/4 and I think that the factory door speakers and tweeters come from the same wire (they do with the bose anyway) Good luck, did the Kappas not come with a tweeter?

no, they rent components. it was just the 4 door speakers. i couldnt pass of up this deal. got them all brand new for 120

Nice bro, but get rid of the stock temp display, very whack!

I see you have the stock navi as well? How did you go by keeping the trip computer? And does the navigation voice still work? I was also looking at the exact same unit you have, but due to my concerns of losing a couple of features, I became very discouraged.

The factory tweeters have a high pass capacitor setup glued to them. I'd just hook the new speakers up full range and use the tone controls to compensate for the extra brightness. If you blow the stock tweets, so what? Disconnect them and the full range speakers are already installed in the doors.

I'm still waiting for someone to come up with a way to make the factory trip computer work with an aftermarket radio. Problem is that I don't know if the radio is just a controller (it has the buttons, right?) or if it actually does any of the thinking for the system. In other words, can the trip computer work without the factory head unit? I'm guessing that it can, but the way they integrate components these days, who knows?

I heard the later year ones work without the head unit BUT you can't change it...IE, you have to leave it on, select which item you want displayed, then disconnect the headunit. It will then still function but only with the single item you selected; avg mpg, remaining miles etc.

Mine is a 2007 and it does that too, unless you disconnect the battery, at which point you need to reconnect the stock unit long enough to select a function. Mine has been blank on the left side for a long time.

As long as the battery and screen are not unplugged whatever was there before will stay, if you unplug the battery or the screen you must plug the stock radio back in, select the thing you want and then unplug it, to change it you must hook the stock stereo back up.

I'm sure that you could place the stock radio in the glove box and you could switch the trip computer.

I lost the navigation voice, I didnt like that b**** anyway.
