Detailed the Mazdaspeed3 this weekend

This is true. Santo's paint was in very good shape when he had me detail it for him.

Pre-rust era :(

What are your thoughts on Zymol David? I saw some at pepboys Sunday, and almost bought some. I was looking at some liquid compound to try to buff out a key mark that some a-hole gave me. It isn't that deep, but deep enough. I am goign to try to use the buffer tonight.

rust? sucks Santos. that's IL for you.

Never used it myself. For $15, buy some Meguiars NXT instead, it's what I top my cars with (and clients cars) smells good, goes on/off easy, lasts long (6+ months in some instances that I've personally seen)

You know you never let me know how much you charge. When you get a chance pm me. I may need you to take care of it for me. I'm lazy!

My dad used the Zymol on his BMW, and the results were pretty impressive. Halfway through the hood you could see the drastic contrast and how much brighter and vivid the colour (british racing green) was. I'll find out today how well it does on my car :P

i wouldn't do it today. going to rain tonight and tomorrow.

Sigh. Of course it is. Speaking of detailing and junk, what do you all use for soap for general washing?

as long as it's a car shampoo, you're fine. I've used expensive high end shampoo and stuff from the auto parts place, and I didn't notice a difference.

Yeah I've been using the pepboys brand stuff. Bought a gigantic tub of it cause it was on sale :P

For grimey cars that dont get washed or waxed regularly, i use Chemical guys citrus wash and gloss

for maintenance washes i uses either Optimum car wash.

For my car, or a quick cleaning when i dont feel like busting out all the tools and products i use ONR.

also, washing and waxing your car before it rains isnt such a bad idea like alot of you think.

rainwater for the most part is pure, and when the car is clean and waxed, the rainwater will either slide off when the car is driven, or will dry up and leave no residue behind. What leaves dirty water marks behind is the existing dirt on the paint that pools together when the water is on it.

However if you live in an area with hard rain water, this wont really work. I always wash my car before it rains so i dont get any dirty marks.

All the dirty snow and months of slush freezing and melting has finally JUST melted all the way, so the roads are absolutely filthy right now. There's even a flash flood advisory in effect cause of all the crap melting and forming new lakes :P Rain will just turn the junk on the road back into mud and make my car dirty again, so I'll just wait.

I ran mine through a coin op wash today at lunch, since I spent the time on Sun to clean it only to get it rained on and dirty on Monday.

I'm ok with that though. . .$2 was well worth it to me.

Yeah, this is how dirty mine is right now. I'm ok with waiting a bit to get it sparkly again.

Only if the car is standing still..

I know this thread is a little old but has anyone gone to the dealer about this? There is a corrosion warranty isn't there?

it's just simple rail dust. it's not defect or rust related as you're thinking. you'll get it again from particles that settle on the paint and corrode. No big deal. Just clay bar it off.
