too many to list, but 2002 MP5 for the forum
what are the (3???) intake sensors for a 2002 p5?????
idle air
mass airflow
vtcs?????
vics????
egr???

cool, as far as i know right now a 2002 MP5 has....
-idle air
-mas air flow
-intake air temp
-egr
-knock
-MAP????
what about anything else???
i'm trying to determine a cause or an adjustment to a 0305 cel code
"intake tuning/ sensor code"

are there any other codes? 305 isnt listed in the mazda shop manual, so it will be that much harder to track it down.

sorry that is 325 not 305..........and the intake tuning code was a 660. prolly related to the knock sensor code i am getting, ya think???

325 means you have a bad knock sensor or a possible short somewhere in the knock sensor circuit.

660 is related to the VICS solenoid valve, and will have nothing to do with the knock sensor.

my suggestion, get a new knock sensor and a new VICS solenoid valve, install them, reset the ECU, and monitor to check if they come back. if the code come back, you'll have to check through your wiring.

define vics solenoid valve.
which is it?
or better yet where is it located on my 2.0?
do u have a part number?
and lastly are u sure the knock sensor can't cause the 660 code? a shop/ dealership claimed it (325) would cause the ecu to adjust for a knock... which i don't have!.... and cause the other systems related to the adjustment to go out of parameters. maybe, maybe not, i don't know

the two codes are wholly independent from each other.

the VICS solenoid is item #10 in the attached.

purchased both today, thinking that the codes are independent i'll change both once they come in, but are u sure the vics couldn't have caused the knock to go bad or read a knock????
lastly where did u get the info on the 325 and 660 codes? local shops and stealerships gave very vague info and not as detailed as the vics solenoid..... spot on for the knock sensor though!

both of those code only have to do with circuit malfunctions. thats why i suggested just replacing the sensors.

attached are the pages from the shop manual for your review.

hey, njaremka.... what was the other solenoid identical to the vics of #10, but in position #7 i think??
is that for the vtcs???? the parts number is the same on both parts and the replacement is a different number all together..... maybe i got a new and updated part.... seems the same manufacturer is mitsubishi (3 pt. star symbol) and looks identical, but has different numbers on the bottom

If the vics is not functioning properly in the high rpms it could be causing knock maybe?? This solonoid closes off part of the im to change to a short runner above 5500rpms. Not to say there is not a problem with the knock sensor also.
