Well All...I recieved the header on tuesday..And Today..i had a chance to look at it...unfortunatley i did allot of running around to get the pieces to put this thing together so i didn't install it today!

Header cost me approx. $230 shipped to my door...and that was w/ 2day shipping (I don't count weekends)...

I had to purchase a custom cel eliminator...
Ran to radio shack to find out they only had one piece of the custom cel eliminator...than went to another radioshack..to pick up the other part!

Than went to a friend of Boosted 1st gen...to get the header fixed..turns out that there a 2 seperate holes for 2 different o2 sensors...And We only need 1 hole..So we got it welded closed!

Went to R&S strauss to pick up a new exhuast gasket (needed for any Header Install!)
-helps to protect from leaks!

To only find out that it's a special ordered piece...Than had to go all the way to Mazda to purchase it (almost $20)

Well the by the time we finally got back..i was annoyed..and decided to leave the install off till tomm..so i hope it goes smoothly...I have attached a pic of the cel elimintor...hope it works!

Also i have attached a few pics of the header!

Chas

damn, that's sweet. let us know when you get it on. i'd love to see it happen where we can get a header for around $230 shipped. oh, have you checked to see if it bolts up to the second cat at all? thanks!

one more thing... with these two piece headers, is it possible to swap in just the stock downpipe where the second piece of the header is? for emissions purposes...

I haven't installed it yet..That's tomm..But i took an eyeball look at it..and it does indeed look like it will bolt directly to the cat...(2nd cat)...

Well when it comes to emmisions..i will take the car in as is..and if it fails..i will revert back to stock exhaust for the inspection...than put it back on after...(NJ inspections is every 2 years)

Not sure about swapin in for the stock downpipe!

That's right..I got it on Ebay!:D

Chas

P.S. tomm..i will be sure to get pics of it installed on the car as well as a video/sound clip...:D

awesome man, I am so looking forward to seeing how things go for you tomorrow as it will confirm my header choice =)

The pieces look great and looks like you got everything for the cel eliminator right on. (im just gonna buy mine from Apex)

Time to start ebay shopping again =)

yeah, when did that come out, i heard it was a no go. and why the hell have they released it with all of these problems?

just like when i had arospeed header on order forever...they said they were on backorder...so i kept checking in and this went on for awhile...so i called arospeed direct and they were like expect it to be a month...so then i called back again and they were like, we really havent even produced one yet, just trying to guage interest, but wait a month, then i called the dealer back and he was like they are thinking about discontinuing that model...i was like :wtf: they never even made one!

yah, the reason this hasnt been announced as released for our cars is it hasnt. This is the OBX header made for the probe 2.0L engine which basically is what our engines are.

Honestly I think if you take all the proper precaustions to any install this should go smoothly, just get a new gasket(obviously) and it already has all the bungs you'll need before the cat, may need to have one added after.

That is basically what racingmazda did, they took their header originally for that 626 engine and added a bung so it would work on ours, also they include a straight pipe to replce the 2nd cat.

So technically I think they should be the same header on RM's has been tuned for perfect install in our cars and the obx will need a little work.

Depends on how much the savings are worth to you.

I am also having the guy who is supposed to give me an estimate on a custom exhaust give me an est. on a custom header, but I know it will prob be like 500 so OBX is more than likely thr route Im going.

you need to look on ebay or online for them, i think the cheapest I have seen online is 238 shipped and ebay anywhere from 200-240.

I wanna see how acid's comes out.

racingmazda you dont need a new gasket. reuse the stock ones.

no, rm header had 2 bungs aready without any mods. he just added the extra test pipe so that the whole thing would be bolt-on. the reason rm had to include the test pipe is because the header itself without the test pipe wouldnt be bolt-on! you would need to cut the end of the header pipe 4-6'' to be short enough to mate up with the last cat, or bypass the cat with a test pipe and bolt up right before the resinatior. ;)

we have 2 o2 sensors. one in the mani and one after the cat? Does your cel eliminate one of those o2 sensors?

the cel fix does not eliminate any holes, it gets spliced into the wiring OR plugged into the socket

Well guys..Got some bad news...Got the header installed today...took it into the shop...due to minor problems!

1.Header doesn't bolt onto the 2nd cat..infact it needed a test pipe..as noted by a couple of people! So yes..That's correct i have no cats...only resonator & a silencer!

2.the egr valve wasn't close enough...so i needed to have it welded to the existing bung on the header...also the threading for the egr valve was to large for the header..which is again why i had it welded...

Well the shop that i had it installed charged me over $120 to have the header installed as well as having the test pipe made..and the egr welded on!

To anyone who is interested in purchasing this header..i would suggest...seeking proffesional installation..unless you are a good welder..

Personally if i could have done it over..i would have purchased the RM Header...

Though...I have the header installed..by a proffesional (didn't have to lift a finger :p and the total cost for the header was exactly the same price as if i was to purchase the RM Header )

:D

I will post pics soon...Haven't installed the cel fix..but don't have a cel light..but i will install it anywayz tomm...i didn't reset my ecu..but after i do the fix..i will reset the ecu...

Chas

it's coo! you spent just as much as the rm guys. don't feel bad. at least you tried to make it work! props to your bravery. now we know not to get the obx header because it's a hassle.
