OBX Header Install!

seems weird cause it has worked for others on other boards before. I wonder if they went through some of the same s*** and just didnt say so.

I wonder if there are different makes for the probe and probe/626 category cause I have sene some listed just for the probe and other for both. Since the RM header was originally a 626 one I believe I thought it would work the same. Oh well. There are other options.

One thing to note....

I was looking through auctions on ebay just now and the one probe header I pulled up was the OBX but it was listed for the 93-97 2.0L probe. Which I think would be the wrong one for our cars, I think ours needed the one that fit 99 or 00+ models of the probe 2.0 engine.

I kow there are slight differences in the engines between those years so that could definately explain the differences here, I believe one of the diff's was OBDII was not needed before the 99+ models yrs.

so there is either 2 headers for the 2 model changes or alot of people hae modded this header.

didn't they stop making the probe and mx-6 in 98 or something like that?

I dont know, I was checking TheMan's Protege FAQ before and thought I saw it say 99+ model yr.

EVERY EVERY EVERY EVERY full length header will eliminate AT LEAST one cat. there is no way around it. EVERY HEADER is illegal because you tamper with the emission system.

i believe the last probes were made in 97, but they werent around in 99-00 for SURE.

i hate to say it devil, but i told you so.

acid - good job to be a pioneer, thats kinda what i did with my RM header. At least you didnt spend MORE money than a RM header with the install, and of course you didnt have to do all that crap that i did.

Well guys..Got some bad news...Got the header installed today...took it into the shop...due to minor problems!

1.Header doesn't bolt onto the 2nd cat..infact it needed a test pipe..as noted by a couple of people! So yes..That's correct i have no cats...only resonator & a silencer!

i tried to let you know....but i think i posted to late. you didnt have to get the test pipe! they could have cut a couple of inches off the end of the header to make it weld to the cat. thats what i had to do. anyways your install price is right around what i paid and you got a test pipe, so it sounds like a good deal to me. right on

Well have had the obx header on for 2 days..No CEL..and i haven't isntalled the CEL FIX...Also i didn't reset the ecu..for fear of the cel!

with both cats removed it took like 175 miles to throw the CEL...youll be one of the lucky few without it...but youre supposed to reset the ecu after mods like that to allow the computer to relearn.

yeah..I wanted to but i was sooo busy today...i figure 175 miles..that should atleast give me till monday..to get the fix in!
